Does anyone play that game Mercenaries? For PS2. Well i do. It probly the best shooting game for the PS2, my opinion, and i was thinking of doing that as my next project but ive desided to let some other people into my idea
. If you havent played it well.. the point is to catch General Song of the North Koreans who has recently been discovered by the Australian Royal Navy of selling nukes to terrorists. The AN (Allied Nations), SK (South Korea), and im not to sure which side China is on (i have hostile with them... its fun kickin there a... butt
) and the Russian mafia (at war with pretty much everyone) have all allied against the NK (North Korea). There is the deck of 52 which consists of all the people who are helping General Song in making and covering the nukes. You start out looking for the clubs, then the heats, diamonds, and finaly the spades. Each suit has an ace which is the boss of that suit and the ace of the spades is General Song. Every time you fight an ace you go to a seperate island or base recently never reachable and must catch the ace or die. You can choose from 3 different people, 2 guys 1 girl. You can get a variaty of guns, including the carbon, anti-tank, anti-air, sniper, anti-armour, RPG, M-16, and some other ones (not on the top of my head. Also you can call for supplys includeing those guns and other guns, medic kit, vechiles (farther in the game the more stuff you can get), and you can call air-strikes to attack certain things.
There is just a BREIF description on what its about and how its played (as third person veiw). So i was thinking of haveing a chain of maps for each region (North Korea and South Korea) and even though this would require lots of time and effort i think its possible. The major things would be accuracy with the game and modeling/skinning. An most importantly the experience of the player who is playing. Since the PS2 version is one player and the custom campaigns are one player only it would be one player with a save/load code so you dont have to restart every time. This would be a VERY long and HUGE project if yuor going to tackle it. I suggest haveing a team of people who have played the game resently or own it so they can refer back to it. You would need 'PRO' mappers not 'noob' ones from all the detail it would require, but you could enlist 'noob' mappers to help you out on some of the easy things so they can get a feel for mapping and would then become 'pros' later on.
If you do tackle this i would love to help later on when im done with my other maps and i wish you the best of luck cause you WILL need it. Trust me
