Like a forum regular on TH once said :"It's MS, they never make much sense".
I guess the below domain name registrations can be labeled as such.

goodscientist.com
goodscientist.net
goodscientists.com
goodscientists.net
napacloudapp.com
napacloudapp.net
programamais.com

It couldbe related to some old game studio.
Good Science Studio used tobe an American video game developer owned by Microsoft Studios. It was established in 2009 to develop Xbox 360 games for the Kinect sensor. The company was originally called SpawnPoint.
So from that point of view the domain registrations couldbe purely defensive.

We'll found out in the future i guess.

They just keep buying and buying, then abandoning it...
I wonder when the time where domain names run out would come...

That's not gonna happen.
There are currently 750 different domain extensions (countries included).
Over a few weeks ICANN starts accepting the first round of new gTLD (generic top level domains) like .new , .next , .paris, .nyc etc etc.
Around 2015-2016 we should have 3600 domain extensions to choose from.

Google is no stranger to register ccTLD's like http://ro.me

Is there a way to register custom extensions? I honestly have no clue how dns works beyond turning a string into an ip address and vice versa. I probably have that part wrong as well.
