can anyone make a comparison on the following mobos and tell me which one is better.
abit KR7A , MSI K7T PRO , MSI K7T PRO2
and could u guys also tell me which brand of ram the best mobo works well with .i was thinking kingston
ohh....another question if i connected a server with 3 coms on a broadband cable service of 512kbps using a router would it give good performance??

40gig 7200rpm ATA133

wat does the ata133 mean??

Personally, I would either go with the MSI K7T266 Pro 2, or the Abit KR7A-RAID. The KR7A-RAID supports 4GB of RAM with 4 DIMMs, and the K7T266 Pro 2 supports 3GB of RAM with 3 DIMMs. It depends on how much RAM you plan to add...

I don't like the fact that the MSI board has onboard sound (not the greatest quality), but maybe you don't care about that (it may cause instability). Onboard sound tends to crap out after a while, but you always have the option of installing a sound card.

ATA, Advanced Technology Attachment, is the speed at which data is transfered between the motherboard, integrated drive controller, and the disk drive. The MSI board doesn't support ATA133 transfer rates; however, the Abit KR7A-RAID board does. So, putting an ATA133 drive in a motherboard that only supports up to ATA100 transfers is pointless.

The Softmenu III Bios has so many options... :)

If you get a 266MHz Front-Side Bus processor, make sure to install PC2100 DDR-SDRAM to fully use that FSB. Kingston or Crucial memory is fine.

The server performace depends on its hardware specs, and your upstream speed. Your cable company probably doesn't allow its customers to run servers, though. ;)

The VIA Apollo K7266A chipset has trouble running an ATA33 controller, it won't even reach speeds of ATA100.
The MSI board will or will not support ATA133 depending on when it was made. You can either wait for a patch from VIA to fix this, or just get the ATA100 board.
The onboard sound can always be disabled through a jumper, which fixes any instability issues, most issues are caused by people leaving it enabled after installing a sound card.

    I have two salmon, Sockeye and Atlantic. Atlantic is used for the kids salmon and the salmon and beet salad, and can also be added onto any dish or just as a side. Atlantic salmon will almost exclusively ever be FARMED, as it is endangered in the wild, and we ALWAYS cut them to 4 ounces.

    SOCKEYE salmon, very different and this IS wild caught. We have an ENTREE version, and an add on version. The entree is 7 ounces, the add on is 4. Why? Because that is how someone that wasn't me set up the computer.
