Model rotation and positioning of footprint of new building

Hi!
I made a duplicate of the barraks, i changed the model in the actor with the civilian large building one and it's all fine, i can see it.

But there are two things that i want to do:

- Change the rotation of the model in order to have this orientation "\" instead of this "/"
- Change the center of the footprint becouse now the model is quite unbalanced on the right respect the center of the footprint (its a bit over the right edge and a lot shifted from the left edge). I enlarged the footprint but the issue remains (of course, it will always be out of center, no matter how big id the footprint)

You can set the default facing direction for a building by modifying the Stats: Facing property on the unit object.

As far as the building footprint is concerned, it should be centered on the unit model so I'm not quite sure why it isn't. What you could do is just find the footprint model the Building normally uses and just give it that footprint. I can't double check this because I can't find a CivilianLargeBuilding_01.m3 model (assuming that is what it is actually called).

it was colonist not civilian, sry!

I solved with facing angle ( i was looking into the actor so i wouldnt never find by myself :) )

About footprint the original footprint is 6x6 and it's too much large... Maybe the model has a center that is not the center of the building?

Sorry for taking so long to reply. I've had a busy weekend.

Anyway it appears that that particular model has an offset built into it. You can however fix this by creating a Site Operation actor and attaching it to it. To do this, go to the Actors data type and create a new actor and set the Actor Type to Site Operation (Local Offset). Now hit the OK button and edit the Actor: Local Offset property. This property allows you to specify how much and in which direction the model will move. For now, just set the x value to -0.5 and leave the others as 0.

Now go to the Barracks Actor (the duplicate you made) and edit the Hosting: Host Site Operations + property. In the window that opens, click on the green 'x' symbol (on the right hand side) to add the operation you just created (if there are any existing operations you can delete them). Now you're done. Place the unit in the Terrain module to see the new position for your model. If the model isn't in the correct location, you will need to go back and adjust the Actor: Local Offset property on the site operation actor. When adjusting these values, you need to take into account the rotation of the model (i.e. the x value won't move the object solely in the x direction unless the rotation is 0). If you make any adjustments, you will need to replace the unit as the existing units will not be updated with the new site operation.

Any questions/problems let me know.

I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
