Im just wondering...How did all you mods become like all popular and good at WE and how did you become mods and admin and GET UR OWN FORUMS...I was just wondering...I'd like answers from all mods....
SD_Ryoko, Senkins, Im_on_56k, Darg, Demonfaze, and all u other mods...I'd like to noe...:D
 
Since being a Moderator is the worst placement you can get, I'd hypothesize that you get to be a Moderator by being an idiot (not really :D)

No, actually, becoming a moderator primarily depends on luck. I mean, first of all, you should have a relatively good writing style (no crappy AIM speak here), and a good attitude with many people. Of course, there are exceptions to some of these things, and you can just become a moderator by being a friend of an Admin. I'm a Moderator over at darkthrone.com, and I popped in mainly because I was hyperactive compared to everyone else and I was eager to solve their problems. Now of course, this is in the eye of the beholder. If an admin doesn't think I'm active or as helpful as a moderator or I'm not needed, I won't get promoted.

Ah, I forgot one last very important fact, be RESPECTFUL OF THE ADMINISTRATORS. But actually, at least in darkthrone.com, they allow you to whine and complain about each other as much as you want, but you have to do it in the secret Moderator's Lounge, successfully maintaining the image in public that the Moderators and Admins are one whole large family that agrees on every single little decision made :D

(Dang, I feel sort of like I've told what is obvious and I also feel like I gave away some magical secret technology that no one should know....)

but who actually made you admin or mod...ne names..im not planning on becoming mods or anything but I just like to inform myself..im very curious :D
 
Rofl Rinpun :D, well, for one, they have a lot more experience, in both WE, social skills, and site management.

The 'hosted mappers' are people who put their mapping projects up on this site to increase the maps popularity, announce important things, post release dates and updates, etc. If you have a good map, then contact SD_Ryoko or TheHelper for more info.

Mods don't just pop up overnight (POOF!); check out the date they joined. Well, not sure about Senkin, but with the others, they joined a while ago.

You need to show that you are mature enough to handle your position; maturity isn't a requirement, but it sure helps! (or so they say -_- :P)

Yes, as Rinpun stated, no crappy AOL-speak ... this is a civilized - HEY, WHY'D YOU NEGAREP ME, YOU SLIME! GET BACK HERE, YOU SNIVELING COWARD! - forum *glances around*, so try to improve your grammatical skills.

Oh, and Obey The Rules! You will NEVER become a special member, even, if you don't follow the rules :P

Just try and learn as much as you can on your own, and what you can glean from here, and then after YOUR problems are solved, go solve other's problems ;)

Of course, ALL of the above /|\ can be bypassed by brownnosing an admin ... Rofl, please don't take me seriously there :P.

Oh, and by the way, Ryoko, did I tell you what a great mapper you are today? :D :>)

Rinpun isn't a mod as far as I know; Darg, TheHelper, SD_Ryoko, and maybe Senkin decide whether or not you get to be a mod :P.

Btw, this should come naturally, but IMPROVE YOUR TYPING! Try and make it less ... mistakey (lol), more fluent, easy to read, clear, etc.

One thing not mentioned above is that Moderators will have it in their names that they are moderators. Rinpun, SF, 56K, blah blah, whoever else is in that list, are not moderators. Simply geeks looking for a place to call their own.
 
Actually, all the hosted mappers are mods - they moderate there own forums. The hosted mappers is something I started and currently we are not doing any new map forums - not saying that we won't have more eventually just not any planned right now. Mods for the World Editor forum are decided by consensus by the site Administrators. Mods for the other forums on the site are decided by Administrators as well.
 
Lol, so what am I, but a mod who doesn't mod? :P I'm the same status as "Hosted Mappers", but I'm not hosted (but that is, of course, result of MY actions :P)

Ah well, I won't complain. I will just continue to try to help people.

This is correct. TH is very adamant that mods choose the mods.
 
I think Senkin fell in a ditch, broke his leg, was traumatized by the experience, and now is dead.

He hasn't been on or posted anything for ages. I know, I've been watching. >_>
 
The fact that Conan is watching anything freaks me out a little...

Anyway, I know Senkin's on AIM every few days or so, but no, he IS NOT on, at least not the time's I check.

However, who are you, Con to question? :P You've been a hell of a lot quieter these days (And thank the GODDESS FOR THAT! ;)) as have a lot of members. Life does come into play with online time, does it not? ;)

WoW mostly, and life. WoW eats up my memory, so I have to close up everything. I'm only really ever free at about 4 in the morning.

It doesn't have to do with life, since I don't have one, eh?

Now, why does everything I eat or drink taste like Bleach?

WOW sucks up my FREE TIME. I always will love Warcraft III, but my time spent jsut browsing the forums and talking to morons on MSN is now spent leveling my Orc Rogue and pooning n00bs.
 
wow senkin hasnt even been on AIM lately, hmmm wonder whats happened to him, he used to be on AIM everyday at least for a minute :confused: :confused: :confused:
