I've set up the ports as suggested, and I can join/play ladder games now, thanks for the help given, btw.
But now I've come to face another problem, this time it seems to be the connection stability.
I use Comcast cable and set up the wireless network, got two computer downstairs in seperate rooms, and one upstairs, in my room. The modem/router are both on the top of TV in the living room, same floor where the first two computers are at.
Now I know Comcast cable doesn't have a good reputation at their cable service, but my location is five minutes driving distance away from any other broadband service providers - verizon dsl/earthlink cable/earthlink dsl etc etc. And we've already suffered three official 'outages' in the span of one month, each lasting a day or two. Two of these outages didn't even occur within the state I live in (PA).
So, what's the problem? I usually get 3 disconnections out of 5 games played, and the other two lag just as bad (to the point where that option 'disconnect' pops up several times in a game). I can only guess that my 'cable' connection has gone AOL. I've spoken with the tech at Comcast already, they can only tell me that I got a lot of line noise, and they don't offer any support since I have a router installed.
How exactly can I find out just how bad my connection is? Should I place the modem and router else where instead of on the TV? I noticed that whenever someone turns on the TV downstairs, I either can't get online at all, or there's obvious slow down in speed. The router and my computer is about one floor apart, with walls and most likely air condition ducts and water pipes buried within.
Should I move the modem and router else where? Set up an access point? Pay extra money to let comcast set up another cable line dedicated for cable connection?
Any speculations and suggestions are welcome. No flames necessary, see post for details. And thanks in advance.
