Mouse and keyboard do not function properly, randomly

At random times my Mouse and keyboard will just stop working properly. Sometimes when I move my mouse around it will completely change command. an example, sometimes when I move the mouse up it will right click instead of move the cursor up. My keyboard will also stop working completely caps wont work. My mouse will stop working completely sometimes too. I think its a hardware problem because unplugging them and replugging them usually fixes the problem until the next crash (by crash I mean glitch)

Are they wireless?
If not then I'd look at the plug on the motherboard for any defects.

Try someone else's mouse/keybaord and see if it happens.

no they aren't wireless. How would I go about looking for a defect on the mobo? I'll try your suggestion thanks

Edit: I'm currently using my mouse in the USB port maybe this will make some difference

Your problem with the mouse sounds like what happens when the mouse loses a packet/byte. Mice use two bytes to communicate with the computer, if one of these is lost during transmission, then all further ones that get transmitted will be out of order, resulting in a huge annoyance. Generally, whenever you touch the mouse after it's lost a packet, it will go flying to one corner of the screen and pop up menus, and sometimes click a menu option if you still attempt to move it. The only way I've found to fix this should it occur is as you have said, unplug the mouse and plug it back in. I was writing a program that would try to reinitialize the mouse/keyboard port, but it never accomplished its task. You might want to try checking if any wires are bare, or maybe there's some kind of electrical disturbance that's causing em to screw up. I have no clue what could possibly do that since I'm not an EET guy, just a programmer.

Another possibility is you may have some very old virus on your computer. A lot of the older virii in existence did fun stuff with the input devices like remapping the keys on your keyboard.

Thanks that was my exact problem. Now that the mouse is in my USB port it has different funky fresh glitches. At random (or what seems to be random) moment the mouse will just stop moving. It wont even let me click. But before, when the mouse was in the other port or input device it would just fly off to some corner. I've never had the problem before, it's funny becuase the problem with the old mouses was the ball joints getting stick or bent. Now the problem is shorts in the mouse. I have another mouse some where that isn't optical maybe I should try that one.
