I have seen in multiple games that you can select a spell on your hero, and it will pull up a whole new page where you can have a bunch of other spells (Orc Gladiators mage character is an example). Anybody know what im talking about and how to go about doing this? Little frustrating :banghead:
thanks.

take a look at spell book ability on ability tab --> item abilities

oh yea, that would make sense. thanks a lot, i feel retarded for asking that one, kinda noobish isnt it? thanks again.

The ability you is looking for is called "Spell Book" (Under Special/Items/)
Change the Data - Spells (Or something like that) to whatever spells you want.

Then set the Data - Minimum spells and the Data - Maximum spells fields to the exact number of spells you have.

And uncheck the Item ability field, and change the race (optional)

EDIT: Didn't see you posted already mems...

How do u get the spells inside the spellbook to have level requirements?

Trigger it. Give them requirements in a dummy unit/upgrade, and then give the relevent upgrade/create the dummy unit when they reach the relevent level.

What do u mean by dummy unit???

For upgrade do u mean that u use a custom upgrade based on things like forged swords???

Griffen means to fill the spellook with a "dummy spell" which is one that does nothing, this spell would use the disabled (DISBTN) form of the spells icon, and would tell the person what lvl they needed to be to use the spell inside the spells discription, it would be set as a passive ablity so it could not be clicked.

Then when the hero got to the right level, that spell would be removed, and the real spell would be put in its place.

At lest I think thast what Griffen means -_-

No, no dummy abilities, just make them require a dummy unit (with locust, no model, no sight) with the name Level X, and then when they level to that level, create one of the dummy unit in a corner somewhere. Can also use upgrades, but they are permament.

rofl, sorry, yea thats actully a good idea. Just remeber to set their visablity to nill and change their properties so they dont appear on the mini-map.

Bad idea, you would have to trasfer all the items and stuff, no offense

Just make lots of different spellbook skills and do this
Spellbook 1 - skills: noob punch (learned) punch (level 3 req DBTN) uber punch (level 5 req DBTN)
Spellbook 2 - skills: noob punch (learned) punch (learned) uber punch (level 5 req DBTN)
Spellbook 3 - skills: noob punch (learned) punch (learned) uber punch (learned)

DBTN means disabled icon

then lest say hero hits level 3, we have the trigger that kinda looks like this
Event: a unit levels up (err I hope this is a generic)
Condition: triggering unit has ability (spellbook 1)
(spellbook_level) equal to 0
Action: set variable spellbook_level to value of spellbook_level + 1
remove ability (spellbook 1) from triggering unit
add ability (spellbook 2) to triggering unit

obviously for the next trigger you would just have to change the conditions and which abilities you add and remove

You could also have the hero manually learn the skill in the hero ability (you get to pick a skill when you level) and just do it that way (condition learns skill spellbook, spellbook level for triggering unit equal to x)

wow i make simple things hard and my way usually doesnt work... i wonder if theres a connection...

I cant find the right stuff to put in the trigger but.

Can u try and make it???

and if u can then can u tell me the pathing?

cause i cant find the right kinda general stuff that u mentioned.

Also im having a little trouble with letting my heroes get past even lvl 5!!!!

I have already set the game constants "Hero maximum lvl = 50" but it still doesnt work and they only go up to lvl 5 now.......

Double post!!! AAHH

about that 5 50 thing, it jus caught my eye coz u set it to 50 and now they only go to 5... u sure u put the 0 on the end?

yea im having the same problem and i have already put my game constants "Hero Maximum lvl = 75" but my heroes still dont even get to lvl 10 they only go to 5!!!

Killing Creeps only goes so far.

Menu: Advanced / Gameplay constants,
check "use custom",
scroll down to "Hero - Experience - Creep reduction table".

See that 0 in position 5?
That's why...

Change it to something else, like 40.
Or just replace the entire table with a single value, like 100.

Either way, don't have 0 as last number.

multible spell book

im not sure if you can have multiple spell books because if you have more than one abilty based off the same thing it gets messed up, or is that only abiltys that are like summon or some unit target?

Guys just a heads up I am going to be shutting the site down soon. I am just waiting on the NUON people to decide whether they want to transfer forum data and keep the discord. My email is [email protected] for anyone that wants to keep in touch and I have a facebook too. I will make an official post later. Love you guys and will miss everyone!

Oh no - please don't lose the Nuon content

  • The Helper The Helper:
Someone email AtariAge and see if they want me to transfer the forum data over to it
  • Ghan Ghan:
Could probably keep NUON stuff around here if we wanted.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Hmm what to do about the World Editor site though?
  • Stephen Stephen:
I'd rather personally just own a backup of the Nuon data than see it go to AtariAge honestly. If it gets enshittified as per usual, or if some of the "regular" Jaguar folks get there, it's not gonna be fun
  • The Helper The Helper:
There will be a github of the forum data so the NUON Forum Data I guess would be available there
  • The Helper The Helper:
World Editor is technically Ryoko stuff not mine you guys can keep that I am not in that even
  • jonas jonas:
:( end of an era :(
  • The Helper The Helper:
Dont think of it as an end jonas - think of it as a beginning, because really my friend that is what it is.
  • A Andyoyo:
Thank you for the hard work over the years. It did not go unnoticed.
