My computer Freezes 24/7 :(

-Athlon t-bird 1000mhz
-Geforce2 mx-400 64ram
-512 sdram
-Road Runner cable
-Windows ME

Randomly freezes, no blue screen, just freezes. Mouse, keyboard and everything freezes. Sucks a lot when im playing warcraft 3 online!!!!! please help!!!!!
 
The main board says AZZA, but the book inside says via kt133... so i guess you can say its a via. im about to check the ram now... will respond. thanx for your help
 
via means the chipset your mobo uses
get the last 4in1 drivers
just hit http://google.com and type 4in1 drivers via
and it is bingo
i run the same puter cept more ram
and different mobo
all goes well
 
i did that, and it froze 10 minutes into a game of warcraft 3. It didnt work. Should i try the ram trick? Also, the computer freases in just about every situation, not just games. I called tech support friday, and they said it wasnt hardware or temp. They told me to delete norton antivirus because that might be the problem, but it wasnt. thanx though for your help guys
 
Do you have any firewalls ?

You should also visit the Windows Update Site.

Open your computer and dust it. Dust blocking computer parts can often cause random hangs.

Check your ram as suggested by The Helper.

Go in Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Information. Under the tools scrollbar, try the different options. Your Operating System (Windows ME in your case) might be corrupted.

A BIOS update might be in order.
 
No, no firewalls. Also, i updated windows ME this morning. Im gonna open up the comp right now and dust it and play with the ram. Thanks for you help. O yea... and its been freezing since day 1.
 
Well, i just cleaned out my comp and took out the video card and a ram stick. The fan on my card was clogged i think, there was dust in it and it was hard for me to turn it. So i booted up and finished my first whole game of warcraft. But it froze right after that. Im running a one 256 meg stick of ram now, and i just dont know what the problem is. I have a feeling its either the temp of my video card or voltage maybe?! i dunno. please help
 
Take the case off of your computer and play without the case. Check and make sure all the fans are working. If you have a box fan or something set it up blowing at your area and see if you still have crashes. This will test to see if you are having a heat problem.
 
ahaa!! The fan on the Geforce isnt spinning at all. This probably the problem. The tech support people never checked the temp of the video card, just the cpu. What do i do if i cant get it to spin... get a new card? i better get one for free! Thanks again guys for your help, this has been killin me all year since i got the POS
 
That is what we are here for - lucky for you I have been doing this since Diablo I came out :)

If that doesn't fix it, I believe there are know issues between the kt133 chipset and nvidia graphics cards.

    this is the fix I get from that yeah this is hard to control. disabling bots is pretty much necessary as ai and other bots would push really old threads to the top. reduce weight of view count. disable guest view tracking if you really want to push active threads to the top. a bit of tinkering for a few days with the weights and other settings should get you a decent trending widget box.

    Wow - the change in the stats are major. I kind of knew it was all bots but wow, to see the effect. Why the social media sites cant do something like this I have no idea.

    Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots
