Need serious help with terrain

I got this river fixed already, but I want to move it for a short distance. Its easy to create a new river, but I when tried to cover the old river with dirt. It just wont fill up. And its driving me nuts.

Yes, use the terrain - raise cliff tool on all the areas of your river. Be sure that the cliff type of the terrain your raising and that of the river is the same, or else it will really mess things up .

Dirt is just a texture, an image, applied on a particular square. It will alter the appearance, and some textures won't allow buildings, but beyond that, it's purely aesthetical.

I got another question. I got this Square peice of land surronded by a river flowing through. I tried to lower this peice of land to become part of the river, but WE just crashes. Any help? :banghead:
