You are confusing the terms, a website is hosted on a server (which is known as a host). A forum is hosted on a server.

There are lots of free host out there but nothing comes free so you'll have to put up with ads. There are people out there that will help you for free. Ill let them come to you if they wish =).

If you want to search for free host, http://www.google.com/search?q=free...ient=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official

the host needs to provide FTP support, ot sure of 50megs does. If it does, then look for something within the forum files, it should be named "readme.txt", open it and then read it.

you don't upload with your browser, you get an FTP client and just drag and drop the folder contents and it does it all for you

If you can't figure out how to set it up, your going to have a really big problem running your site.

Also, does your site have MySQL? If not, your skrewed...
Read the Readme again if you dont get it! You have to create the forum folder on your FTP.

I could change this in my User CP.

you dont NEED a forum folder, they say to make one and put it in there to help you and your viewers find your forums. You can put your forum files in any folder just as long as you configure everything to make sure all the file paths are correct.

A very useful FTP Client is AceFTP. You can get the freeware version here: http://software.visicommedia.com/en/products/aceftpfreeware/ it is free and all you have to do is just enjoy the slash screen asking you if you want to continue the evaluation service, the service will last for ever if you register your product, which is also free.

I use this program and AceHTML. Both are tremendious help to me so i suggest the same to all web developers, to either invest and get the Pro versions which allow you to do more with it or download the freeware versions.

A good web hosting service is http://www.t35.com and they allow you to connect to an outside MySQL provider, like the one at: http://www.freemysql.net.

If you need futher help you can PM me and i can set it up for you.

The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
