New idea for my rpg, vote on it, if i should add

As most people know i am working on an rpg, destiny rpg for some time now, and i have just thought of an idea.

This idea will make a huge change in the map and will take some time, and even change all gameplay.

Im kinda stealing this from diablo but oh well, its just an idea.


You will start with no abilities, but have a choose abilty action to appear as an "ability"

Once you click it a dialog will appear saying Choose Category.

It will have

Auras
Defensive abilities
Offensive abilities

Once you choose a category another diaglo will apear with a list of the abilities for that category, and a back button to display the choose category.

That will appear each time you level 5 times(the choose ability abilitie so you don't get interupted when your fighting or something)


Example

Your level 5, the ability will appear.

Your level 10, the ability will apear,

Your level 15, ect ect

Please vote is this is a good idea.

I voted yes...its a really good idea that will develop fun into the game...improve it a little..im sure ull make it more complex...but as you said "its just an idea"

why? Because I think it would be anoying for it to pop up every time you click to add abilities, so add anetor boring dialog asking then if they want it to be like regular learning abilities or dialog... but to confuse them make the dailog...

...give them a chance to choose regular or the dialog. I think it would be unique and wouln't be boring because thats pretty much wat happens in any MMORPGS or anything. You choose your ability from a list.

Btw, this is off topic and in the wrong forum, but I had trouble getting the six semifinal bosses to appear after I killed those first eight . The weather effects were pretty cool though :>) And can you have a small intro cinematic to 'explain things' a tad?

wat happens in any MMORPGS or anything. You choose your ability from a list.

Though, your forgetting the greatest of all MMORPGs; WoW doesn't have a list of abilities, you buy them.

If you change it, it'd be a good idea. Thing is, with a dialog box I'm only choosing an ability based on the name; Not description, stats, icon, whatever.

Personally, I'd try to fit my "list" in a "Spell Book".

Then again, I've seen some map once that used dialogs,
and, well, it worked.
And was, actually, much less annoying than I expected...
Only thing is, there aren't any detail giving tooltips.
Which could leed to choices like:
Do you prefer "Maluma [Level 2]" or "Takete [Level 2]"?

Hmm, maybe you should change it a bit to add passive abilities, and perhaps give a value or something next to it - you have it categorized already, so the player shouldn't get confused; just add a little 200 if it damages for 200 damage, or if it heals for 35 a second, then do 35 per sec or something rofl :shades:

Offensive Passive
Defensive Passive
Offensive Casting
Defensive Casting
Offensive Auras
Defensive Auras
