New Sound Card Probs

I get tired of my on board sound card so I went and bought a Sound Blaster 16 PCI for 29.99. It worked out great, installation was a breeze. The only problem I've encountered so far was my recording. I talk on a voice communication program and my frend tells my he cant hear me. So I IM'ed him and he told me My vioce was all garbled up. I went to test it so I recorded myself singing, and when I played it back, all I got was the garbling High volume sounds. for 15 minutes I've tried to mess around with the settings but nothing made the noise go away. Any suggestions as to what I should do.

BTW i disabled my onboard card. Would that do anything ? Well if you have some ideas or solutions I'd be glad to hear it. Thank you again

I had no idea anyone even sold those cards anymore, they were released well over 5-6 years ago and so are considered somewhat obselete (well by me at least).

when you say all you hear is high garbling noise, do you hear that all the time regardless of whether you are recording your voice or not? Like if you were to just start your sound recorder for 10 seconds and not say anthing into your mic, would you still get the same sort of noise?

off the top of my head, I see no reason why your onboard sound card and soundblaster card cannot both be active and operational. I have personally used a computer which has had both onboard and SB cards on it and both cards worked fine.

What is your OS btw? How old is your comp? (specs would be nice)
 
Ummm..

Is there a setting on those boards for which type of mike you are using? I know the modern cards have a setting (a jumper) for weather your using a condenser mike or a regular mike. I believe default is for a condenser mike which wont work with the little PC mikes.

I might be wrong or the mike types might be wrong.

    I have two salmon, Sockeye and Atlantic. Atlantic is used for the kids salmon and the salmon and beet salad, and can also be added onto any dish or just as a side. Atlantic salmon will almost exclusively ever be FARMED, as it is endangered in the wild, and we ALWAYS cut them to 4 ounces.

    SOCKEYE salmon, very different and this IS wild caught. We have an ENTREE version, and an add on version. The entree is 7 ounces, the add on is 4. Why? Because that is how someone that wasn't me set up the computer.

    Let alone trying to figure it out from a wildly stressed out me that is also on a phone call trying to get something to show up from Seattle tomorrow while trying to explain this salmon situation, that also is barely solved in maybe a few hours and and but I am bulking it with a few steelhead filets I have and that is a WHOLE fucking different thing to the 19 year old server that got put on day shift C crew that doesn't know who I am.

    All in all though I think this summer is going really well. Some complicated things, but at the end of the day it isn't THAT big of a deal. Not all of our servers have quite realized they are technically sales

    Like yeah it is a substitute, but FOMO. Chef isn't getting this again this year, he has to figure it out, so it's slightly off on the menu, but that is more or less the LOWEST quality and price. Right now, steelhead is a real stealhear, right?

And then the girls can bat their eyes and do pretty girl server shit
