Pretty much exactly as predicted, Blizzard Entertainment announced the next expansion for World of Warcraft Friday afternoon during the opening ceremonies for its annual Blizzcon convention in Anaheim, Calif.

Called Cataclysm, the next expansion will, among other features, raise the character level cap to 85, introduce two new playable character races, and involve a wholesale refresh of Azeroth, the setting for the original World of Warcraft game released back in 2004.

85 to make easier leveling.

Blizz's recently new philosophy towards WoW is to make it more accessible to everyone. Now, I don't agree with most of the things they do, but I do enjoy everything I've heard about the new expansion.

This expansion should be their best to-date in my opinion.
Sure I'll miss vanilla Azeroth, but everything I've seen so far is orgasmic.

When do you guys think it'll go live? Winter '10 or '11? They have to work with such a vast continent, it's possible it could take longer than a year.

The WoW division seems to be the only one doing something constructive.
The SC2 division is still sleeping and lazing about.
The WC3 division is just a bunch of 3 year old kids.

I saw this coming....Blizz will keep adding expansions as long as people will buy them. Also they give so much attention to WoW because you pay $50 for the game + 15 a month + little stuff like char renaming etc. vs Diablo and WC where they get $50 and thats it.

This is the part where I go cancel my account now. between school and work I got no time to raid and arena AND level...

Any mmorpg is addicting that's why they have monthly payments or a form of money in-game. Don't call games shit if they are addicting if you are having fun with it why care about it's addictiveness?

There's probably just a number somewhere that tells what the level cap is. Blizzard simply needs to design the leveling areas for it.

After a while it gets unhealthy and it's totally non-progressive in real life. You could spend that time learning something like a programming language or going out and looking for jobs. Hell, you could go out to a bar, something you could be proud of telling your grandchildren about when they ask about your youth. :rolleyes:

I actually never even heard a word about this expansion for me. But all these expansions is the reason I stopped playing the game in the first place. $15 a month is expectable, 50cents day. You could find that on the floor. But when you take in the expansions, the $30 or $40 they cost could be used for much more important things.

    The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats

    I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
