"No Disc" error on a region free nuon...

Just got a region free nuon and I keep getting a "No Disc" message whenever I try to use a disc (game, DVD, music CD)... it's an Extiva. Is there a way to fix this? The discs sound like they're skipping for a sec. before the decide not to work.

If this is definately broken, is there a way to remove the region free chip and put it in another nuon? Pics of some internal markings attatched.

Have a look at this thread. Clearly the N2000 uses a different DVD drive to the N501/504 (well it looks like it anyway), but I wouldn't mind betting if you look at similar models from that time, the DVD drives are universal in the same way as the n501 hack described in the other thread.

The drive in this unit looks like it might do the trick.

Have you tried a head cleaner? It could be the lens is a bit grubby.
