The water became the oceans. It just needed time to settle there.

And not all of it rained out of the sky. A good amount came from underground, and is still doing so.

^ even if all the water on earth went to the surface in liquid form it would only go up by about 5-7 km. many mountains would still be exposed.

I think it's possible that there was a flood that the story stemmed from, but got larger and larger by the telling. so in reality the flood wasn't deadly or anything, just unusually high.

so no way is this noah's ark, it's way to far up.

v you need about 1000 animals of one species to have a completely stable genetic pool. with care I'd say you only really need 50-100. if the tale is true it also means that every single plant has evolved within the past 5000 years.

ya know, if the story of noah's ark is true, then we are all descendants of noah and his family, right?
well someone in noah's family must have had every single std known to man because they didnt come from other people lol.

Oh, wow. Okay then, where did the STDs come from BEFORE Noah?

Just an example: the STD AIDS originally came from monkeys. Only a few years ago did it appear. When some idiot in Africa screwed a monkey.

Whatever you're trying to prove, you're not proving it very well.

He's confusing what Humans made rather than this "divine being we call God". Plastic wasn't made by God, but by humans so it can't be said that God made plastic or anything else. Now did God make the Ark or did Noah?

I, another christian, also at least doubt this story... I think it COULD be the ark and im pretty sure the flood happened, but thats another story :p.
But, wheres the point? Nowhere in the bible you can read something about the importance of the ark after the actual flood. There's no reason for a christian to hold on to the thought of the ark being somewhere on the top of the mountain at this moment. It's perfectly natural to believe that it's long gone after 5k years.

But what I like about this thread is that there seem to be some simular minded people on another, maybe not even christians. I really dont think there there is a point in having to disprove anything right away, particularly as a non professional. It's the same with christians who want to disprove anything that might be against the bible or christianity... since you just don't need to believe it.

And unless there hasn't been a 5000 years long study of structures of wood in every possible form of preservation nothing is for granted.

Dure that is not where AIDS came from, that was what the US government said to cover their ass. AIDS was created by the US government in an attempt to destroy the gay population as being gay was unexeptable (terrible spelling FTW :p)

actually, its more commonly accepted that aids spread to humans through contact with contaminated bush meat. (ie a hunter accidentally cut himself while butchering an animal or was bitten)

i never stated anything about the origin of stds, only that if such a bottle neck in the human population occurred (the human population reduced to a single family), then for every human std that exists, at least one member of the family would need to be a carrier. but since you asked, i guess a christian would have to assume that god made std's.

if you can think of some other way for std's to be introduced to the human population feel free to chime in. but please, dont suggest that they all came from sex with animals.

in this quote, does "he" refer to me?
because i didnt suggest anywhere in that post that one thing made any other thing.

Unless you think enough water appeared to flood the entire earth for an amazing 150 days and then it disappears without going to an outside source (space as he stated) then you believe in magic.

Oh wait, that's precisely what you believe in.

Hi sir, oh I remember you, because we met each other like 20 years ago and are best friends I presume?

So you think the water just flew to space?

What a strange news thread...

These are some of the stupidest suggestions I've heard in a long time and I really hope you're trolling. If not....

Ever heard of mutations?

Christians don't believe god made everything. Well, they may, depends on the christian.

What about the Church of Christian Science?

if you knew more about mutations, then you wold know that std's are not just simple mutations of other microorganisms. while some may be related, they are entirely separate species. presumably a christian (who interprets the bible literally) doesnt believe that mutations can cause speciation, because if they did, then they would accept the theory evolution instead of a literal noah's ark.

calling something "stupid" isnt a very strong logical argument, if anyone was trolling in this thread i would point the finger at the person calling things "stupid". furthermore you still didnt address the fact that std's main method of transmission is sexual intercourse. so considering the literal interpretation of the story of noah's ark, the most probable explanation for the existence of stds today would be for a member of noah's family to have been a carrier then.

i dont personally believe in noah's ark, so this fact has little bearing on me.

they believe god created everything in the natural world if im not mistaken. std's included.

whether or not you guys turn this into a religious flamefest is none of my business. but among some Christians, we dont believe that Noah's ark has been preserved.

The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
