Ah! Now I remember making that remark. What I meant is that I find my writing stale and having little effect on people's emotions. Thank you for reminding me.

and why do you think that is? is it the words you use, is it hard to follow everything that happens, don't you portray whatever is important to create an atmosphere, are the situations and ideas you write about hard to relate to? any ideas?

You don't need to share anything, but let me know how progress is coming. You were off to a hell of a start, and I want to make sure that momentum hasn't slowed down too terribly much. You at 8,000 yet? Are you still liking what you've written so far? Having any specific problems or issues that an outside perspective could assist with?

I'm past 8,000 and on 10,000. It's going a bit slower now because I'm doing a lot of patching and reworking the transitions that I don't like. I'm also adding and manipulating the plot differently.

don't forget to go forward. it's better with one mediocre, but finished, novel than 999 unfinished (to be) great ones.

I meet a lot of musicians who tell me they are songwriters and that they have tons of ideas. When I ask them to send me something they tell me they haven't got anything finished. They always get pissed when I tell them they are not really song writers if they haven't written a single song, but it's the truth.

I ended at 23,000. Then my hard drive crashed. I can't tell you how upset that made me. I couldn't find the back up, and it's possible I never made one. Oh well.
