Nuon Startup?

So, the nuon chip was designed to be in many things (i belive so). But the chip was in dvd players only. Wouldn't ( or could) the nuon chip have been like java, in atms, cars, pc's, etc. Maybe the chip is in other things. But this could have been like java, maybe...

That was the original intention. The chip also existed in some set top boxes of the day. The idea being, anything that had an MPEG-2 decoder in it, could have used the Nuon chipset.

So with the right tools, you could make a unlicensed NUON DVD player. Just take a DVD player, do some soldering and add the chip. Like a rgh Xbox motherboard swap. You could add home brew games even. Would this be possible?
