Open Battle.net and TCP/IP

Hello everyone. As of a few weeks ago I stopped playing Diablo II
on the realms due the the excessive hacking cheating duping etc.
So me and my friends decided that we wanted to continue playing
Diablo II but instead on single player and only with each other so
that we could make sure no one was duping hacking etc. We were
supposed to have me set up an IP game at the beginning of every day
being that I have the fastest computer and best connection so that
we could all play on my "miniserver" if you will. However
whenever I attempted to make IP games or Open Battle.net games my
computer loads to the point right before the loading bar is
completed, hangs there for several seconds and then displays failed
to join games. However I can connect to other players IP games or
Open Battle.net games but this is unacceptable as all my friends
have 56k and it lags extremely bad when all of us try to play at
once. Therefore I would like to know why my computer cannot make
any IP or Open Battle.net games and if I can do anything to fix it.

ATI RAEDON 7000 32MB DDR
40x CD ROM drive
20 GB Harddrive
ADSL Internet connection provided by Bellsouth
No firewalls or proxies
256MB RAM
Windows XP OS

Are you sure that the built in firewall isn't on?

i didnt know Windows XP had a built in firewall..... could you tell me how to turn it off?

I don't sue XP myself, but I know it has one built in. Check around the networking options.
I'm sure someone else here can give you good directions on how to turn it off.

I just checked in the help contents of Windows XP to see how to diable my firewall. When I went through the steps it told me to do I found that the firewall was already disabled. so I guess thats not it

some adsl providers have built in firewalls at their modems .
u might wanna check on what kinda adsl modem u got .

well i followed up on your suggestion and i called my ISP who provided my modem. they said that the modem they provided me with has no built in firewalls so no luck there.
