Opening closing doors

How can I make it so that a gate can open and close manualy without having to break it down.

I want them to open and close by simply typing in

-open
-close

I'm tired of players getting frusterated with the gate and knocking it down so they can get inside the fortified walls. It doesn't make sense to me since they screw us all over when they knock over the gate. PLEASE HELP.
