Password Error in DiabloII Battlenet

I have 3 accounts with Battlenet. I was playing and logged out for a minute and when I attempted to log back on I got a "Password not Correct" error. I tried my other account and got the same error. I can log in on my mule account though. Admittedly, I was using a map hack and had been using it for about a week with no problems. If my IP was banned, I wouldnt be able to log in with my mule account.

Whats going on?? Were my accounts hacked and stolen? A glitch?? What??

Any info greatly appreciated.....

given the nature of those hacks ie they can be exploited easilly by every idiot who knows the exploit. it is likely some kid stole your account by simply exploiting the hack nothing magic to it .
or you just having bad luck and you can access your account later on or in a few days after the weekend.

when you exploit the game, dont be surprised when other exploit you for your accounts. if anything, you got what you deserved.

Thanks for the constructive criticism. I wasn't looking for someones shoulder to cry on, I was looking for an answer or perhaps a confirmation of my suspicions.

You use a hack, or cheat you run the risk and inevitably you will get caught in one form or another and I did. So in that vein I agree with your post. However, some form of an answer, not just a slam would have been appropriate.

when Blizzard bans accounts (they started doing this now) they do it by changing your password to some random value

I don't know if they can detect Diablo 2 map hacking but if so, that could be it

Password Error

I appreciate everyones replies. I actually found out what happened. On Friday, I was using one of my characters and entered into a trade with the promise of some nice items. He ended up not having anything good and that was when I logged off shortly after. Afterwards I could not log back on.

Saturday morning, while recreating my characters I actually spoke to the person who stole my accounts. He was using one of the characters and was logged in under my account name. He told me what he had done. He said he has a hack that will give him account name and password when trading. I dont remember seeing anything out of the ordinary when trading with him, so i cannot tell how this might have happened or how this hack works. Or, he might just be BSing me.

He was pretty arrogant about stealing the accounts and told me that he had stolen another one earlier this morning using one of my characters. He said "People trust a lvl 83 character"

I have reported him and all the account names involved to BNET. If it matters, I will post the account names and character names in another thread if others would like to be be "on-the-lookout" for him. Just respond to this post if anyone would like those names.

I apologize for the long message, but I thought it was necessary just in case this person really does have a hack that does what he says.

Posting the information here won't solve anything. More than likely, the person who stole your account was already using a stolen account.

In addition, I suggest you contact them during the week. I know they tend to get swamped over the weekend with mail, and the service is usually faster if they are mailed on a Wednesday.

Your password shouldn't be stored anywhere except encrypted on the b.net server in an inaccessible database. He lied about how he did it, but he obviously did do it.
What probably happened was your maphack had a backdoor that packet sniffed or keylogged your password into memory, and he found some way of using that exploit from within the game to have the program send him your passwords.
You got knew the risks, you lost your bet. Don't really expect b.net to do anything about it though.

That is the whole problem anyways . Blizzard does not support or condone hacks. Therefor no help from their side .
On the un official site we can do nothing also. Sure one could a program to hack chars back. but that would be abused and be no solution.

This happens a LOT!!!!! People who hack the accounts don't hang around them often enough to get caught and Blizzard won't give you a new password.... These hackers probably only wanted that wonderful sword of yours, but since they changed your password you're stuck.. happened to my fiance! (Razzed her about that for awhile!!!)

But Blizzard is unwilling/unable to do anything about it and there's no way to make a backup of your character.... I'm almosy burned out of B.net because of it.

IMHO, maphack is as bad as any other hacks or cheats. It's your own fault.

Maphack is far from being as bad as the other hacks. Maphack didn't cause inflation when trading items, it doesn't cause nearly as much lag. Especially when there was that breakout of the chest hack that one night.

Sheesh, it's so simple what happened. Ever heard of "trojans?" Or, more specifically, "remote access trojans?" If you downloaded maphack from a different site than mousepad's official website, well, it most probably had a trojan in it... Considering that trojans can have keyloggers... Do I really need to continue? You opened the trojan-ed maphack, and he started logging your keys. He thusly found out your passwords, and stole two of your accounts. Why he didn't steal the third one? probably because he logged off before he did. He wanted to trade with you to get your account name. Why he couldn't find out your account name? Simple; when you log on to your account, your account name is generally already typed into the top box, and you just have to enter in the password. Naturally, the keylogger will only detect the password, and not the account name, as you did not physically type it in. So, he entered in a trade with you, got your account name, and when you logged out, stole it. Does that answer if not all, some of your questions?

It may be official, but trustworthy is another story. I'm sure MousePad could steal many accounts by now considering the number of people that downloaded his hack(s).
