This is a solo project I started with a couple of weeks ago. It's going to be a Guitar Hero remake in the Frozen Throne engine, and to stop me from abandoning the project I'm creating a thread.

[ Placeholder; pictures will go here when pictures are ready to be added ]

The map will allow to play through all songs of the Warcraft 3 soundtrack in a Guitar Hero-like environment, with the four difficulty levels of the console games. All songs will be played using the directional keys and the escape button, and for the two highest difficulty levels a plugged in guitar using the brilliant JoyToKey software (in essence it allows you to map the buttons of a controller to keyboard functions) will be usable. A plugin for PS3 guitars will be downloadable from this thread when the map releases.

Important for me about this map is that it will contains absolutely no custom content; everything is generated through triggers, something that will help put the file size down.

As you noticed, there are no pictures in here - this is because the map in its current state looks and plays very differently from what I expect the finished thing to look like.

Expect a release in the coming month. This will be my last Warcraft 3 project. Feel free to ask questions about the modification; I will answer as many as I can.

EDIT: I forgot to mention; this'll be strictly singleplayer.

EDIT II: Being considered as expernal applications for song editing is a .CHART/.MIDI-to-in-game text code converter, to allow for creating custom songs. How to play the music itself would, if it's added, be up to the player. Not on the top of the list at the moment.

That would be like shooting yourself in the foot!

Or well not exactly but, if people can't host it on Bnet it will never be popular and people dosn't really play much single player.

I suggest 3 different modes for multiplayer, and after each row/game you should be able to restart and choose another game style or the same again

  • 1 vs 1: with somekind of score through 3 random songs then there will be a winner and the posibility to restart or choose a other Game.

  • Tournament: where all get the same random song and people play at the same time in the end the players with least points is eliminated
  • Survival: the one who can be correct for the longest time wins

It's singleplayer because of the 41 song soundtrack and the ability to save.

Insane!

Shh I didn't edit this, go away.

hey, i could make the guitar neck for you... but it wont animate, it will only be a rectangle with a texture on it. :)

This sounds too good to be true/possible :). If you succeeded in this.. I would.. would.. hug you.

>people doesn't really play much single player.
I do. I can't play multiplayer, because my computer keeps crashing, and people don't like leavers.

Okay it's up to you it's your map

I do. I can't play multiplayer, because my computer keeps crashing, and people don't like leavers.

but you gotta admit that it can't grow fast without battlenet. what would make it re-known?

Well, if you're using arrow keys and Esc. it can't be multiplayer since they tend to be veeery slow online. And you can't be slow in GH :)

if the only reason it is single player is due to the amount of songs, just create multiple versions of the same map. You know, like how sing star has all the packs.. rock,80's,pop etc... you could put 3 or 4 songs per version and ppl could decide what version they want to play in the war 3 chatrooms. Then you can have all the songs in the single player version for people to practice on or to beat personal high scores etc.. It's the best of both worlds and all you really have to do is cut and paste triggers and junk

Maybe you misunderstood what this map is about; the songs you play are in the game already.

Hmm, this seems interesting..

STORM! EARTH! FIRE HEED MY CALL! lol

You should make a save-load thing where it saves your score and make an extra one for multiplayer where people can compare load codes and scores. And have some minigames according to your score! maybe... just an idea.

How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
