These aren't working the way I want them AT ALL.

This is REDICULOUSLY painful.

JASS:
function HATE takes integer i returns real
    local real r
    local real R

    set r = i - ((i / 80) * 80)
    set R = 5 - (r * 0.06)

    return R
endfunction

JASS:
function Trig_Send_Ghouls_Actions takes nothing returns nothing
    set bj_forLoopAIndex = 1
    set bj_forLoopAIndexEnd = ( ( udg_Income + 80 ) / 80 )
    call BJDebugMsg(R2S(HATE(udg_Income)))
    loop
        exitwhen bj_forLoopAIndex > bj_forLoopAIndexEnd
        set udg_l = GetRectCenter(gg_rct_Enemy_1)
        call CreateNUnitsAtLoc( 1, 'ugho', Player(1), udg_l, bj_UNIT_FACING )
        call RemoveLocation(udg_l)
        set udg_l = GetRectCenter(gg_rct_Enemy_2)
        call IssuePointOrderLoc( GetLastCreatedUnit(), "attack", udg_l )
        call RemoveLocation(udg_l)
        set bj_forLoopAIndex = bj_forLoopAIndex + 1
    endloop
endfunction

//===========================================================================
function InitTrig_Send_Ghouls takes nothing returns nothing
    set gg_trg_Send_Ghouls = CreateTrigger(  )
    call TriggerRegisterTimerEventPeriodic( gg_trg_Send_Ghouls, HATE(udg_Income) )
    call TriggerAddAction( gg_trg_Send_Ghouls, function Trig_Send_Ghouls_Actions )
endfunction

The way I have this set up.

My function HATE always keeps the integer inputted below 80, then the integer is multiplied by .06 and then that value is subtracted from 5 and then returned. It works PERFECTLY after an agonizing hour of trying different methods, but wasted because I was doing everything right for that.

The periodic event is supposed to run every X seconds, where X is the value returned. The value inputted being income. The timer does not run like I want it to. Is the timer constant? If so then how do I work around this...

PS: I don't care 1 bit for optimization.. Not at all... I can do that in my sleep...

I just need help for the periodic event.

periodic events have to have a constant timeout (i think)
you can try a one-shot timer which calls back itself (not sure if this is efficient tho..)
JASS:
function Trig_Send_Ghouls_Actions takes nothing returns nothing
    set bj_forLoopAIndex = 1
    set bj_forLoopAIndexEnd = ( ( udg_Income + 80 ) / 80 )
    call BJDebugMsg(R2S(HATE(udg_Income)))
    loop
        exitwhen bj_forLoopAIndex > bj_forLoopAIndexEnd
        set udg_l = GetRectCenter(gg_rct_Enemy_1)
        call CreateNUnitsAtLoc( 1, 'ugho', Player(1), udg_l, bj_UNIT_FACING )
        call RemoveLocation(udg_l)
        set udg_l = GetRectCenter(gg_rct_Enemy_2)
        call IssuePointOrderLoc( GetLastCreatedUnit(), "attack", udg_l )
        call RemoveLocation(udg_l)
        set bj_forLoopAIndex = bj_forLoopAIndex + 1
    endloop
    call TimerStart(GetExpiredTimer(), HATE(udg_Income), false, function Trig_Send_Ghouls_Actions)  //<--
endfunction

//===========================================================================
function InitTrig_Send_Ghouls takes nothing returns nothing
    //set gg_trg_Send_Ghouls = CreateTrigger(  )
    //call TriggerRegisterTimerEventPeriodic( gg_trg_Send_Ghouls, HATE(udg_Income) )
    //call TriggerAddAction( gg_trg_Send_Ghouls, function Trig_Send_Ghouls_Actions )
    call TimerStart(CreateTimer(), HATE(udg_Income), false, function Trig_Send_Ghouls_Actions) //<--
endfunction

hmm, I knew it would be something like that!

Thanks! I'll check back in a second to see if it works.

I can take care of the optimization though.

You may get a "function does not exist" error, or may not. Don't do that with something like "ForGroup" as that will cause a huge error XD

Or you can try where the trigger doesn't demand a specific timeout, like this:

JASS:

function expire takes nothing returns boolean
    // ... actions
    call TimerStart(GetExpiredTimer(), HATE(udg_Income), false, null)
    return false
endfunction
// ....
function init takes nothing returns nothing
    local timer tim
    call TriggerRegisterTimerExpireEvent(t, tim)
    call TriggerAddCondition(t, Condition(function expire))
    call TimerStart(tim, HATE(udg_Income), false, null)
endfunction

Since I'm at it, why is the need for a trigger event in there? Couldn't you use the callback function in the timer startup?

1. Breaks precedence, so you cant callback a function below it.

2. It may not be possible to have a callback that calls back the same function, but I could be mistaken.

I'm just filling the guy in that there is another way to do it that guarantees that function will be called when that timer expires.

Okay, just wanted to inform myself. :p
Btw, would it be possible to add multiple callback functions on one timer? Like:

JASS:

private function Init takes nothing returns nothing
    local timer tim = CreateTimer()
    local trigger trig = CreateTrigger()
    call TriggerRegisterTimerExpireEvent(trig, tim)
    call TriggerAddCondition(trig, Condition(function funcSpam1))
    call TriggerAddCondition(trig, Condition(function funcSpam2))
    call TriggerAddCondition(trig, Condition(function funcSpam2))
    call TimerStart(tim, 1., false, null)
endfunction

Just for the sake of possibility, don't know who'd find a use for this.

    How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
    The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
    I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
    Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
    Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
    And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
    These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
    Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
    Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
    Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
    That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
    I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
    I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

    I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
    It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
    I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
