PHP Blank pages!

When you key in my script in the adress bar, its a blank page!

Theres no reason for that; it does actions even if you give it no commands.

I don't understand.

The web sites said thats typically because of a PHP error.

So I downloaded 2 PHP editors and the PHP 4.02 for windows.

But when I run the syntax check in either editor, it locks up and never responds!

Yeah that PHP will do that if everything is not perfect. I did an application in it and did not have time to find a syntax checker but I spent hours debugging that freaking script to get rid of blank pages.

Basically it sounds like you have a syntax error in your code - probably something small and stupid but that is all it takes.

You need to install mysql - its easy to do and there is a windows version.

Well I wuz tryin to gitter done befour they upgrayd dat dere sofware pack, but when I loader up dem pages deygo blank. So I guess imma have to wait till deyget our account goin. I parade it wood werk when I tested er on ma system before I gittem ploded but I guess not. I seen I had a cuple semicolin airors but nuttin big.

I tested sum of dem blocks wun atta time and dey werked fine, I cant figgure out just where its screwed up. I jus hope dey don't take munts gettin it a runnin.

OKAY

Did you know, <?-- comments --> only work in the HTML sections, not PHP? I didn't.

Please help. I don't understand this one - the last line looks FINE.

Pleeeeeease... ( I did get an editor to work after installing MYSQL as a windows service)

If I delete that line, it parse errors the previous. If I delete that.... previous....previous....

I don't know why I have to tell this to the Webmaster and I'm still a newbie, but why ot replace comment lines with either the /* The C style comments */, the //C++ style one-line comments, or the #shell script style, for one line comments. I personally prefer the C++ styles. I think I'm overlooking something, because comment lines are the basics.

I'd also like to note, that in XHTML 1.0, the <!--Comments are no longer used.-->. If you are using XHTML 1.0, then you have to write your comments like
<[CDATA[comment goes in here]]>.

    LOL! A tweak job!

this is the fix I get from that yeah this is hard to control. disabling bots is pretty much necessary as ai and other bots would push really old threads to the top. reduce weight of view count. disable guest view tracking if you really want to push active threads to the top. a bit of tinkering for a few days with the weights and other settings should get you a decent trending widget box.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I changed the settings a bit.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Narrowed it to 7 days for the half-life and set views to 0 weight.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I dont think Trending would work for this forum it would be better to just have the last 5 posts from anywhere
  • Ghan Ghan:
Probably will have to give it some time to update.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I'm guessing it is not retroactive.

One thing I have noticed and I dont know if it is by design but like 1 out of 3 times I come to the site the Anubis screen just hangs open, if I refresh it will go away but sometimes it hangs
  • Ghan Ghan:
    I've seen that as well.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Wow - the change in the stats are major. I kind of knew it was all bots but wow, to see the effect. Why the social media sites cant do something like this I have no idea.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Probably inflates their numbers so they look better to advertisers.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots

Weekend went by too fast. Next weekend I am going to try to do a nature thing - buddy of mine lives by the Colorado river and has some kayaks and invited me to do some kayaking from a place he knows to get on the river.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    That sounds like an adventure.
