I'm currently looking to write a tool to execute MySQL commands and view databases visually, pretty much the same as PHPMyAdmin. Except mine is special, because I made it.

I've got a pretty good idea of how I'm going to go about writing it, but I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on the following topics:

• Features
• Interface
• Customization
• Architecture
• Optimization
• Deployment

All help is appreciated

• Implement the functionality of PHPMyAdmin
• Do it more fashionably!

phpmyadmin is shit, take a look at SQL Buddy which uses AJAX and is generally delicious.

I think I'm going to look at both of those then rethink this. I've already made some progress, but I don't want to keep going if I think there's no point in using those.

I'll read a bit of their code and then try them out then make a decision.
