Picking random numbers

Hi. Sorry if this question has already been asked, but i haven't been able to find an answer to my question in the tutorials.

Basically, i want to create a random unit in a region, and i want to pick the random unit by picking a number between 1 and another number, and then, depending what number the computer picks, creating a certain unit.

I've searched endlessly through the actions menu, and i'm getting desperate, so is there any way to order the computer to pick a random number?

Create a unit-type array, initialize its value at map beginning and then roll a random integer between 1 and (limit of the array) and use this as index to know what unit to create.
