Ping and Latency problems

Hello!

It appears that as I play online games, my ping (I don't need an explanation as to what this is [hopefully]) is as high as 600, even on servers that are normally at <80 ping (only tested in CnC4 and TF2). Other than that, videos only stream a "third of a second" per second, which is really slow compared to before.

*CnC4 = Command & Conquer 4
*TF2 = Team Fortress 2
- yes they are not pirated -

Why this is a problem is the fact that my download speeds are quite unaffected, if not, better than normal. Other than that, this has persisted for 10 straight days. I live in the Philippines, and 200 kbps is far from slow in our country, especially since I downloaded from American sources.

This all started two days after my PC was solved of it's Network Adapter problem, which resorted me to buy a PCI Ethernet card. After these two days, my ping started to rise, internet pages and videos started to load slowly, but download speeds are unaffected and remain normal even until today.

Because I fear about PCI Ethernet cards seeing as I lived my whole 16 years of life with on-board network adapters, I haven't really updated my driver nor am I aware if it ever does need updating.

What I've tried is resetting my router and modem. It (usually) starts out okay, though still a little slower than it used to be but not at a level of irritation, but after a few minutes it slowly starts to rise by a hundred, then reaches in the 600+ after a so-soon five minutes.

The old driver of my on-board network adapter is still installed, though the slot itself is unused. I am unsure if it would ever interfere with the ethernet card driver though. (The on board is labeled as Local Area Connection 3 in Network Connections, while the Ethernet card is labeled as Local Area Connection 4)

Sorry for my o-so bad English. As stated above, it's rather obvious that I am no native of the YEW-ESS-OF-EY (or any other English-speaking country).

Thank you for reading

ping is just delay in milliseconds, download speeds are rather different then ping because once they get started they just go, there is no need for your computer to send information to the server where your downloading from

finding drivers for your devices might help, but im not sure if it would

you should probably disable any network adapters you don't want to use, then try opening up "cmd.exe" and typing "ping google.com" or other website to get an idea of where your ping is

you should also see what else is using the internet at the same time via the resource monitor if you have vista or 7

So what it really is me trying to implement some kind of better site navigation not change the whole theme of the site
  • Varine Varine:
How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
