Yes, but sony trys too hard. Nintendo made it more fun, not by adding more graphics or stuff, but by making it "new-gen". They sold way more than Sony or Microsoft, and they didn't try as hard to make it hardcore.

Just wanna explain myself a bit here...

Before, when I called the person an idiot for his opinion, it wasn't because he liked Sony, or wanted to buy a PS3. I don't care about that.

However, he seemed to write off the Wii and love the PS3 without any real experience, just going off what people say. I mean, for awhile, some people will have to go on that, but they shouldn't get a set mind-frame before they try the systems out. Give it a chance, man!

Like I've said before, I have a PS2 and a PS1 in my room, they're the ONLY systems in my room I don't hate Sony, I just don't agree with how they do business sometimes. Nintendo is just more gamer friendly, I believe.

Sorry, Sqrage, but I think it's actually good to compare the consoles. Not just Wii and PS3, but all the systems in general. That's how people decide which one they want to buy.

Halo actually came to me on MSN and asked me which did I think I'd like more, a 360 or a Wii? Thus, comparison. If the debate doesn't end, that just means people are still finding things to say If it gets old, we'll close the thread But for now, I don't see a problem with it.

Wow, this is an interesting thread. It has got me thinking, and I'm sure it has for many others. Not because systems are important, but the money you put in is

But yeah, I have made my decision (GASP!). And sorry to say, but the Wii will be most likely my Christmas present from my parents, and the 360 I will eventually buy many months later. Sorry conan, but atleast we will be able to play the Wii together Sadly we won't be playing Gears of War until a LONG time in the future.

Anyways, this IS a PS3 thread, though more directed to comparison than anything. Sony messed up pretty bad, I have to admitt. Some major mistakes that don't make the customers happy, but they are probably smiling.

Another point is that I never much liked the PS only games, though there are some great ones out there. Like God of War, I LOVED THAT GAME, and almost bought a PS2 just for it.

Not only that, but many others too. But to me, they don't match up close to the games you can get only on the Xbox.


Here are my views on the systems:

PS3 - Having raw power, and a huge fanbase, it gets it's popularity from that. There are so many PS fanboys out there, not saying it's a bad thing. Too bad they didn't make enough though. (Raw Power)

Xbox 360 - Has some of the best Xbox 360-only games. So many of them, that are all great and fun to play. To me, thats how it gets it's people. That combined with it's an all-around system, I think it will be a great system. (Real awesome Xbox 360-only games)

Wii - To me, the best system of all. It's revoloutionary gameplay, mixed with everyones favorites such as Zelda, Super Smash Bros, and all the other great Nintendo games, blends into one great system. Though I still like the 360 games a bit more, the fact of how the system is played adds a gigantic boost, already beating the 360 in my books, without even mentioning cost. (Everyone's favorite games, characters, and cost! Also new gameplay )


The wierd thing is, I loved the N64, hated the Gamecube, and now going to love the Wii. The PS1 had some wicked games, though didn't like it that much. The Xbox, being the first Microsoft console, is just great, though I can't compare it to the PS1 and N64, because it is so much newer.

Though I do own about every Nintendo system, excluding the DS and the Wii, temporarily.


Now, you are probably thinking, "Does this guy ever really have an overall point?". And I say nope, it's just one big mashed up thought.

I think that people who can afford to get a PS3 should, so long as they consider that they are being screwed xD. But seriously, I believe that the Wii would be a better system if it was $1000, but it's not. It's $250. So it is not only a superior product, but a cheaper one at that.

But you have to admit Sony made a smart move, at least for their pockets.
Supply and Demand... if supply goes down, demand (and prices) go up.

Sony could not have charged $600 for the PS3 if they maufactured like Nintendo did. No one would buy one because they would feel that they could get one later without any stress. The low supply increased demand, and therefore made people more willing to pay that much.

If you ask me, Nintendo has always been stupid when it comes to marketing. The Gamecube was not advertised for anything, except for a large library and low price more than a year after its release... Nintendo is kinda dumb in that way.

But their games have always been better.

It all has to do with one's style of gaming.

Nintendo has always held king on the quirky, off-shoot, wide-audience games like Pikmin. They make great games, and a wide variety.

Sony has won the last two console wars because of one thing: variety and technology. Though the PS2 was no technical achievement, seeing as its processing power and sheer strength was nothing compared to Microsoft and Nintendo, it sold well with its unique sense of style. Mature games like God of War, off-beat platformers like the Jak and Daxter and Sly Cooper franchises. Sony did well, considering the huge variety in its games. It's also housed some of the biggest 3rd party games ever made, like the god-like original Resident Evil, and the Final Fantasy series.

Microsoft does a great job with the shooters, and more mature games. It does great with the military games, and shooters overall have always played better on the Xbox and Xbox 360. Due to the controller, and the way its processor works.

Personally, I would eventually like to get all three, but in this order: Xbox 360, Wii, and then PS3. The 360 just have the franchises I love, like Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon.

The Wii seems to be doing great with innovation, and the graphics don't bother me. The only thing that does is it processor. Small processors don't mean weaker graphics, they mean weaker AI, less units on the screen, and a reduced game overall. But Nintendo seems to be playing its cards right, even if the graphics aren't positively next-gen, they seem good.

PS3, right now, honestly, sucks. The only game I'd consider buying it Resistance: Fall of Man. It seems like a fun game, but nothing new. The $600 price point does not warrant games like Gundam and Untold Legends. Only a few launch games garnered good reviews, most bombed entirely.

Anyways, those are just my opinions. I don't levitate towards any certain company, though Nintendo will always reign king in my book, as I love all the consoles. (I own a PS1, PS2, N64, Gamecube, NES, SNES, Xbox, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, DS, PSP, and others I forget)

But I love Nintendo's games, ESPECIALLY Metroid. (I got let down when I found out MP3:C was gonna be delayed, just like MP:H rrghhh...)

I'm looking forward to the games mostly, as I made clear in my last post. And Conan, the only reason I'd ever want a 360 is Halo 2. That's it. I see no point in getting it otherwise, because I don't like most of the 360-exclusive games... but if YOU do, then why should you not get it? If I tell you the games are no fun, but to you they are, then they are fun. So I respect that in you.

So if someone says that the PS3 is overpriced, then yeah, it is... but not because of how good the machine is, but because its games are no good (at least to me).

I think it's good that some people want it, or else a good manufacturer would go away, like Sega. If Sony went the way of the Dreamcast then I'd be sad.
