If you want one, a good thing to do would be to talk to Krys, the Writer's Corner mod. She'll probably run it past me, since I'm the biggest writer-ish Admin, and then we'll go from there.
I suggest coming up with more then just "can we?" though Get some rules down, judging ideas, etc. etc. Dead lines, that sort of thing.
I don't have a problem with it, I'll give you that.
Neither do I. It seems like a good idea, but we do need more than just the idea for it. As for judging, depending on how many entries we get we could jus have a poll for what people think is the best poem.
Its a good idea, but again, the details such as judging and entries and such would be a hassle, since everyone would want to participate I'm guessing, who would judge, and if the people who entered did, how would it work? work those out, we could definitely do it.
Alright, cool. I was just making sure that the idea could be carried out before I started making plans.
__________
Judging
-Judges: Seth_Cross, Krys_A_Night, Mizuio-Ken
-Rules:
You may submit any type of poem.
There is no limit on length.
Any theme is acceptable.
It must be one that YOU have written, and it can't be one that you've posted on this website previously. I would say that it has to be new period, but whos to say that you couldn't just post one that you've had sitting around for years and just tell us it's new, therefore making that pretty much impossible
Any copying of other member's poems, or copying of any previously-written poems will result in -reputation and disqualification.
Judging will be based on the following:
Emotion - Does the poem emit any kind of emotion, or make the reader feel a certain way? Or does it seem flat and uninteresting?
Flow - Does the poem have any kind of flow? Or does it seem choppy and hurried?
Originality - Have we all seen poems like this before? Or maybe you've created something fresh.
Grammar/Spelling - Is the poem legible and grammatically correct?
Word Quality - Do you use some interesting words to spice up your poem?
Visuals - Does your poem create a picture in the reader's mind?
-All of the judging criteria above will be judged out of 10 (10 being the best).
-All contestants have 5 days to have their poem submitted (after a starting date is chosen of course). Judging will be complete 3 days after the deadline.
Prizes - Aside from +rep, nothing. Don't be so materialistic
__________
Anything above is totally open for debate, these are simply some ideas for judging, rules, etc. If anyone has something that they would like to add, just post your suggestions
I would think Krys and I would be Judges, with one more person. Unless, of course, Krys wants to be IN the contest.
As for the rules about poems: Does it have to be new? Have a theme? Be a certain number of lines or more/less? When's the deadline for dropping in a poem? When will they be judged by?
Those are just a few questions I got already ^.^ Work on answering those (You or Krys, I'm just endorsement ^.^)
Miz - Fine with me, so long as you know you can't be IN the contest, too.
We only need 3 judges, so if Krys, me and Miz are them, we can start focusing on the rest of the stuff ^.^
I dunno about Krys, but some kind of theme would be cool, even if it's just a general type of poetry, or a message in the poem. Or even a target audience. It'll help test people's ability.
Then again, we can have more than 1 contest ^.^ So for the first one, we'll keep it simple, unless someone disagrees.
Copying anyone work someone from this site or any other writer
will result
-rep,
Disqualification,
And You will not be allow to join anyother writer contest,
Reason why Taken this so strict because any Writer wants to get credit for what he or she did. Its the same thing as copying a map and calling it yours.
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
