Portable Mp3 Player

Hi, I want recommendations on a good portable mp3 player. I want one thats NOT an iPod (i wanna be different ), stores at least 5GB, and has a price in the $100 - $300 range.

the iRiverH320 is perfect 20gb hard drive about as small as an ipod color screen radio recorder and about 300 dollars i bought it and im happy with it

Hey sqrage, I'm definitely thinking of buying the iRiverH320 off of newegg.com. Definitely looks good to me. 20 GB is definitely the amount I want since I got 6GB worth of songs on my comp and its continually growing. Im gonna buy it in a few months since im gonna buy a new graphics card this month. Thanks for the recommendation!

So I was thinking of buying H320...but it was out of stock at newegg.com (which is where i always buy stuff). That made me stop a little, and I did more research on good harddrive mp3 players that aren't an ipod. After some research, the ones that I chose out are these: Sony 40GB VGF AP1L, Zen Touch, iRiver H320, Archos Gmini XS200, Dell DJ 30, Jet Audio 20GB.

Choosing one out of these is extremely hard because each player has pros and cons; there is no perfect one. I would definitely have bought that H320 if it weren't for the fact that the navigation controls suck and the start-up time is extremely long (10 seconds or more).

The main things I look for are: sound quality, ease of navigation (preferably smooth scrolling), semi-good looking style (since Im willing to spend more than $200), and ease of transferring files (not so much the speed, but the method...i deinitely want a player that acts almost like an external storage which lets me do drag-and-drop operations).

I am mainly interested in the Archos Gmini, Dell DJ30, and the Jet Audio 30GB (newegg reports it as having FLAC support...if that is true that would be awesome).

If you have any of these products or other ones or promising ones that are to be released in the future, then please post a reply.

Ok, I decided to preorder the IAudio X5 since it looks VERY promising to me from the reviews of an actual owner and the specs that the company has posted. Thanks a lot for the quick response lordloki, and thanks to everyone else who has contributed.

PSP, you can do music video and games. You look at what It comes with and you will see why. It is the most addictive Portible Game player I have ever layed hands on.

Actually I bought a nomad jukebox for about 220$ off ebay and thats with shipping, works fine came with all the cords and batteries and ac adapter and the best part is ^^ it stores 6gb yes 6GB! They are good some people say they are big but w/e it fits in my pockets so im good . Nomad Jukebox made by: Creative"
My batteries cost like 32$ LOL, but I can keep my little Nomad going for about 240 hours so I figure its good because they are also rechargable.
