I recently got from one of my buddies a "canon buble jet printer"
it doesnt even want to print even with a new ink cartrige, all my settings seem to be right but i just cant seem to get it printing.

PLZ HELP!!! its pissing me off!

couple of questions....

What OS...
What Driver version....
What type of Printer ? (USB or Para)
Does Windows detect the printer as being installed?
Does it even print a test page?
Did you remove the little plastic thingys from the bottom of the cartridges?( :D )

more info and will see what I can come up with...

the printer is reconnized by windows and every setting is fine, no it wont print a test page. note: i am running windows 2000 pro, could this be a problem?, its not usb, its para. my driver versions are all upgraded also.

I've been waiting for a reply for a while now, is it that tough to solve?

Can you make it print a test page by using the buttons on the printer? You might have to look in the manual/web for the button combination to do this. This is a "built-in" test, which is different from the test page from Windows.

If this fails, its a mechanical problem with the cartridge, or something wrong with the printer (its not really worth fixing a cheapo Canon BJ printer. )

But if this works, we know that the problem is related to Windows or drivers or the connection cable.

Does it give you an error message saying it can't find the printer? Does it seem to print but nothing happens? If you open up the Printer icon in the Control Panel--> printers folder, is the print job still there or does it disappear? Does the print job even get spooled in the first place? What are the symptoms.

Thank you for giving a shit, i really do aprreiciate it, i really hope its not a mechanical problem, ill try that internal test adn ill get back to you, and yes it does reconnize the print job and all. I'll reply soon
THANX MAN:cool:

Hey Ghan, whatever cron job its part of its not running its been the same for days. If it does not work can we remove it?
  • The Helper The Helper:
    LOL! A tweak job!

this is the fix I get from that yeah this is hard to control. disabling bots is pretty much necessary as ai and other bots would push really old threads to the top. reduce weight of view count. disable guest view tracking if you really want to push active threads to the top. a bit of tinkering for a few days with the weights and other settings should get you a decent trending widget box.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I changed the settings a bit.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Narrowed it to 7 days for the half-life and set views to 0 weight.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I dont think Trending would work for this forum it would be better to just have the last 5 posts from anywhere
  • Ghan Ghan:
Probably will have to give it some time to update.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I'm guessing it is not retroactive.

One thing I have noticed and I dont know if it is by design but like 1 out of 3 times I come to the site the Anubis screen just hangs open, if I refresh it will go away but sometimes it hangs
  • Ghan Ghan:
    I've seen that as well.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Wow - the change in the stats are major. I kind of knew it was all bots but wow, to see the effect. Why the social media sites cant do something like this I have no idea.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Probably inflates their numbers so they look better to advertisers.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots
  • The Helper The Helper:
