When I attempt to play the Diablo game I just installed, my monitor goes into standby mode. The game sound still plays but my monitor is blank. When I hit ESC twice, my monitor comes back on but I am exited from the game. I have an HP Pavilion, with windows 98. We had an upgraded (size) monitor with out computer. Does anyone know how to keep my monitor from going into standby when I play Diablo?

It might not be your monitor going into standby mode, it's probably something going on with your graphics card. What kind of card do you have, and do you have the latest drivers for it?? Also, if your running in 3d mode, run videotest again (let the Diablo CD autostart, press options, videotest) and change to 2d mode.

Goin to options there is not video test

The only items in the autostart menu is Internet, Install DirectX7 (which has already been done), Contact sites for Bliazard and uninstall. I can't bring up the start menu for Diablo, theres just a blank screen. Is there another place I can access the graphics menu?

I'm sorry if I rushed to conclusions here. Is it Diablo 1 or 2. I'd guess it's 1, after falsely assuming that it was Diablo 2. Sorry 'bout that. For question 2: What's your videocard, and do you have the latest drivers for it?

Im not sure of all the things you're talking about, where would I look to find what video card this computer has. I haven't changed the card since I purchased the computer, if that helps any.

If you're a Windows user:

Open "Start"-menu

Choose "Settings"

Choose "Control Panel"

Doubleclick "System"

On the top of this window, there are four tabs. Choose the second one.

Here you will see a list of all hardware in your computer.

Click on the + to the left of the hardware called graphics card. This will open a new menu, where you will see the name of your graphics card. When you have the name of it, post back.

There is no tab called video card, does this mean I dont have one? There is a Tab called Display Adapters, could it be under this? That one is NVIDIA Vanta (HP)

Sorry bout that, direct translation from my Swedish Windows. Yes, this is the name of your graphics card. The latest drivers can be found at:

http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?PAGE=drivers

Choose your operating system. Most probably this will be

Windows 95/98/Me Drivers

You will come to the download site. Choose primary download site for Detonator XP Driver. If your download won't start. Try one of the alternative downloadsites.

Thanks alot, i really do appreciate it. If theres anything, there probably wont be, that I can ever help u with, don't hesitate to ask.

It still doesnt work, but I'm gunna try a new graphics thing instead. Any other ideas?

The new driver doesn't help, the screen still goes on standby, I don't know what to do about it now. So any help is cool.

Disable to power saving features of your computer. Go to Start - Settings - Power Management - under turn off monitor select never.

Still didnt help

I have the power saver off on that menu. I've tried most everything, but the monitor still goes on stand by, but its only when I start the game, the screen comes back on when I exit the game. It happens with another game called "theme park" as well. I dont understand it at all. Has anyone else had this problem, or do they know how to fix it?

Guys just a heads up I am going to be shutting the site down soon. I am just waiting on the NUON people to decide whether they want to transfer forum data and keep the discord. My email is [email protected] for anyone that wants to keep in touch and I have a facebook too. I will make an official post later. Love you guys and will miss everyone!

Oh no - please don't lose the Nuon content

Someone email AtariAge and see if they want me to transfer the forum data over to it
  • Ghan Ghan:
Could probably keep NUON stuff around here if we wanted.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Hmm what to do about the World Editor site though?
  • Stephen Stephen:
I'd rather personally just own a backup of the Nuon data than see it go to AtariAge honestly. If it gets enshittified as per usual, or if some of the "regular" Jaguar folks get there, it's not gonna be fun
  • The Helper The Helper:
There will be a github of the forum data so the NUON Forum Data I guess would be available there
  • The Helper The Helper:
World Editor is technically Ryoko stuff not mine you guys can keep that I am not in that even
  • jonas jonas:
:( end of an era :(
  • The Helper The Helper:
Dont think of it as an end jonas - think of it as a beginning, because really my friend that is what it is.
  • A Andyoyo:
Thank you for the hard work over the years. It did not go unnoticed.
