What do you mean to point out what OS I'm working with?

Do you mean that the driver for my PCI Ethernet Controller is at the location c:\windows or at the location of my win98 cd?

The drivers should be either on a floppy disc or under the directory win98 on your windows cd. If they don't exist on the cd, you need a floppy disc with the drivers on it. Usually you get a floppy disc when you buy your card.

Actually I've experienced both problems in your original post. The first one was easily solved by choosing a regular network card from the list when I installed it. Later I found the floppy and used that. The monitor thing is a bit tricky. The problem appeared when I had formatted my hard drive, so I removed the monitor from the devices listed in control-panel ->system. Then I restarted the system and it found the correct monitor. Don't know if this works for you, but I sure hope so!

Problem

About the floppy disk that comes with the card. The problem is that I lost that floppy disk and the question now is there a place where I can download the necessary files and how do I find out what network card I have?

There are two ways to do this:

First of all, check the box if you still have that one, if the card was built in, check any manuals you may have for hints. If you don't go to step two:
Look at the card. This is not recommended if you have no experience with opening up the computer and poke around inside it.

When you've looked at the card you should have found the name of the manufacturer and the type of card. Then choose update driver and then show all types. Choose your manufacturer and type of card. The computer will probably ask you to put in your win98 CD. Do so and restart computer. Finished!
