Projectile kills units in its path?

How do you make it so when a unit fires and shoots trough some other units the projectile, that the unit fired, kills every unit in it's path?

Example: There are 3 units, unit1, unit2 and unit3. Unit1 fires at unit3 and unit2 is standing right between them. The projectile that unit1 fired flies trough unit2, kills unit2, then finally hits unit3 and kills him too.

i think its possible with modifying Breath of frost or breath of fire spell
Give it enormus demage if you want to kill in 1 shot and give a small radius to this spell and change the missle art as your projectile.

The problem will be is making it an outo cast ability, something about triggers you need which i dont know and asked here

what you could do is make it have a good splash radius. THen change the splash damage to some high score like 99999 and then change the actual damage done to the unit targeted to like 10-15 dmg.

Hope this helps.

Is it possible to do with a normal attack that uses the attack ground button? The units in my map can only fire with the attack ground button so they are actually always targetting the ground.

EDIT: Nevermind. Carrison Swarm works very nice and I can do some cool stuff with it. Thanks.

It doesn't work as nicely as I thought. Sometimes the projectile doesn't kill for some odd reason. I hit the target dead on and nothing happends but if I move my unit to some other position and fire again it does kill.

These are the settings that I'm using:
Damage 99999
Distance 1500
Final Area 40
Max damage 99999
Cast range 1500
Missle speed 6500

Doesn't the NE Ballista have the exact upgrade you are looking for?

yes under combat-type (normal, projetile, artillery) one of them is used for just this thing like SilverHawk said the NE Glaive Thorwer has just this thing

I made a custom spell to do this recently, for my space invaders map :)

You see changing the combat type doesnt really work if you want it tooo look right, i tried with the balista etc. In this case it only does the damage when the projectile hits the ground, it looked very strange.

What i did is use a dummy ability which spawned a unit (the missle) for the caster, then ordered the missle to move in the direction the caster was facing.

Now the summoned unit (the missle) i gave disease cloud and remove the effects for thsi, the problem here is that units dont die from being diseased they goto 1 health otherwise it would have been better!

So what you need to do is create a recurring trigger (every x seconds) and get all of the units that have the disease cloud buff on them and kill them.

Obviously if you only want the attack to do damage then get rid of the disease cloud damage and instead of killing them do the damage you want.

Oh also give the unit (missle) locust so that it cant be attacked and can pass through anything.

Couldn't you use something other than disease cloud? You could probably just use triggers to damage the units. Have the unit go from the hero to the target, and as the unit passes through (you figure this out) a trigger damages the unit.

Whats wrong with using disease cloud? there are a couple of others you could probably use. I really only used this because i was hoping they would die from the cloud, sux that there is no option for that.

How will your way work? I have used triggers to hurt the unit already, you cant use "unit is in range" because you are creating the unit (maybe if you have a bunch of bullets hidden somewhere on the map but how annoying). How do you intend on triggering the bullet passing thru a unit?

try the immoloation on netural hostile's infernal instead disase cloud

you send the unit through ( it has no model, so you cant see it, and it has locust, and
just to make sure set collision to zero. Triggers will spawn the unit, and make it move
from the hero to the target. Thought of putting immo on it...anyway, you CAN detect if locations of units are the same, or near enough. If you can do your math, you can make it so that when the location of the bullet is close (about 50-100 range...maybe?) to the location of the unit, it gets damaged. Now, granted, theres one flaw. How do you put the units ahead of the hero into the trigger? One way...that might work, if a bit much, is pick every unit (and check location) This really takes triggers and im doing this out of my head...

I think thats because 'Final Area 40' is not a whole hella lot. I understand that making it bigger would be too deadly tho.

Oh, if you try the 'glaive thrower' suggestion, just remember that it will be his normal attack.

I dont understand why you would bother going to all that trouble, have you tried using the disease cloud? it works perfectly, you can remove the special effect and it takes 5 minutes to make.

Why bother with all the math to make the trigger 100x more complicated than it needs to be.

edit: actually as posted above, you could use immolation and this would kill the units so its probably a better way and its even simpler.

I put the final area on 200 and it still didn't work right. I also tried the glaive thrower and it didn't work either so now I'm gonna try to spawn the projectile as a unit with immo.

EDIT: It sort of works but the projectile (the spawning unit) is not fast enough.

Yeh that is definately one restriction, make sure in your gameplay constants the max speed is set as high as possible. Should be around 500, and set the unit to this.

The shockwave spell didnt do what you wanted did it? Still i think the projectile speed will be limited.

Actually there is a way to get things to move as fast as you want, i use this for my knockback spells and rocket boosts etc.

Basically when you create the unit and make it face the direction of the caster, put it in a variable, and run another trigger with a fast periodic timer - every time the periodic timer fires move the unit to its current location + (some ammount like 30), facing the direction of (created unit)

You might need a bit of extra stuff to check how far its travelled etc but thats all quite simple, then destroy the uni and turn off the trigger. Be careful if you want more than one player having the ability to use this trigger, you can do it just need to think about the best way.

I tried to use the shockwave ability but it didn't work right either (same problem as with the carrison wave). So I decided to put the missle speed on 2000 and it then worked perfectly. But when I put the missle speed on 2100 it didn't work right again. So I think that there's a bug when you put the missle speed of an ability above 2000 the ability will randomly "miss" the targets.

I think on the new one they did change it, but idk. I don't really care whatever the government is doing right now because it's consistently absurd. Like what is RFK doing in charge of health anything? I love the bear story because WTF was that, but also, pretty much every time he talks it's WTF. Like even his voice sounds microwaved

The pyramid is fucking dumb as shit, no matter how you arrange it.

It's actually remarkably easy to make mayonnaise though. Fun fact, it USED to kind of be a French mother sauce. I believe that Careme considered it one, it may have been aioli but that has also built a different meaning than it used to. An aioli is just mayonnaise I mixed with other shit typically, I didn't start it don't come at me
  • Varine Varine:
It's very hard to do it on a large scale though
  • Varine Varine:
Depending on how you pour the oil the consistency can vary wildly, but that's true for most emulsions. I can only make about two quarts at a time with my robo coup, and if I have to make several in series because I forgot to order it becomes really obvious even when I do it. We have to wait and mix them all together to make sure we have the same thing.
  • Varine Varine:
Hollandaise is also kind of like that, emulsions require a very steady hand to do exactly the same every time.
  • Varine Varine:
Luckily I live in an age with electricity so it's way fucking faster, but when I was just a boy trying to find my place I had some hardcore chefs that made use do things like that by hand. It is WAY easier to get right by hand because you control it and can feel it, but it takes soooooo much longer. And on the scale a modern kitchen requires... I serve 400-500 guests on average per day right now, if I had 100 then we could do things way better
  • Varine Varine:
But we can't do that. In the winter yeah, but I HAVE to get people through here right now so I can afford the staff that we CAN do that. We have about 100 days of summer, and if that summer doesn't make us what it will, then I can't operate the other most of the year with my staff. The owner is talking about closing two days a week to cut down on labor, I told him he should cut down on vacations and it did not go great. I do think I won though, I have to keep my fucking core staff and they have to be gainfully employed
  • Varine Varine:
Sure some of them might take a second job, but I can't just cut my entire staff to unlivable hours, nor can I can cut them off all winter if I want them to come back.
  • Varine Varine:
And also, there is no fucking way I'm pulling these hours come september. I only do this right now because I have to, the second I don't have to be the one doing it I won't be
  • Varine Varine:
I have a 5 person core staff in the kitchen, not including me or Chef Ben
  • Varine Varine:
Though two of those people are likely not making it this year. One of them has been replaced, the other I am kind of trying to. He's being a giant bitch, today I had to get onto him because in the three hours before I left he had taken like thirty minutes for cigarette breaks
  • Varine Varine:
And he was also complaining to me the other day that he was out of weed so couldn't smoke any before work that day, and was confused about why I was annoyed he was telling me, his boss, that he is smoking weed everyday before work.

So now he's getting scrutinized and will not be top of the list. I know I don't have the smartest people but I do expect them to have some common fucking sense

I did do a rare thing for me and hire a girl last month without warning. Everyone was made at me because I started her at like 21, but she worked with me before and I was like don't care. She made 19 at her old job and I wanted her to come work with me, she is the best

I'm going to get her a raise at the end of the summer. She wants to go to school again, but I want her to still work with me so.... she kind of can just tell me what the price is. I can go to 25 if she keeps up. I need to get her onto line more, that's what she wants, but I need her where she is and it's not fair that she doesn't get the little bit of raise that comes with it. She can do it no problem, I've worked with her there.
  • Varine Varine:
It's just hard to move and train people unnecessarily right now. And also the line fucking sucks, it's not any more fun. This is turn and burn so I have the bankroll, and everyone suffers for it

Eventually we'll get it balanced, we'

we're starting online orders and stuff, but I also turn that off all the time because I barely keep up trying to be the best at Sysco shit
  • Varine Varine:
I think it's gonna be a good fall and winter though. We're going to have a good staff, they will get along, they will be able to manage the workload and the complications, they know how to really cook this year, like every person on line knows their steak temps. Some of them use thermometers a lot and they don't always use them right, but they do know how to do it. Failure, especially in this field, is the only way to get better. They'll get it
  • Varine Varine:
They won't get feel down while they do the thermometer, but we didn't have an instant read probe when I was learning. Like they did but god knows how off it is, you HAD to do it by feel. Even if the chef was fine with me bringing my own, it takes too long. Poke and know
