Hi

I have an Asus P5GDC Deluxe motherboard

http://usa.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=P5GDC Deluxe&langs=09

that I have been running with a 1GB stick of Corsair Value Select memory

http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInfo.aspx?ProductID=7739&GroupID=56

I recently bought another 3 sticks and although everything runs fine POST only shows 3327MB and Windows shows 3.25 GB - although running zCPU shows 4 sticks of 1024 running fine !

I have updated the mobo bios and no change - is there anything I can do ?

I have been advised that it may be a virtual / phyiscal memory thing that XP only recognises a combined 4 GB ?

Any help / advise would be greatly appreciated

Many thanks in advance

TB

well some mobos do that. they just dont see all the ram but u do have it

well...to never exprience lag...an plus u can have adobe,CS:S,Firefox, and, regualr CS and u still ownt lag muhahah talk about multi taking

basically i doubt u have any problems...try downloading EVEREST (search google) and see if it says that u have 4gigz of RAM or something else.

Hi

Everest says 3327MB total under memory, but does show 4 x 1024 under SPD !

CPUz also shows the 4 x 1024 sticks - just POST and windows only show 3327 and 3250 respectivly !!

BIOS update hasnt worked - im confused

i dont know what to tell ya....those numbers dont make any sense as 3sticks = 3072MB and 4sticks = 4096MB. and like sqrage said, its probably just ur motherboard misreading the amount u have. i say wait and see if any of the more knowledgeable users have anything to say about this.

Thanks il keep checking in

As ypu say the numbers dont make sense - thats the confusing part

Cheers again

Is it a Dell, Compaq, HP or Gateway computer? If so some of the Ram might be being used as dedicated Video memory. The above manufacturers often do that to save some cash.

Its a MESH (yes I know) - the only other thing is the physical / virtual memory thing and if some HDD space is set to virtual memory then XP only recognises 4GB and therefore will only see 3and a bit GB physical memory - but i really dont know ! - will reducing the virtual memory to a minimum (2mb ? make any difference / affect my system ??)

Cheers

i dont think itll make any difference and yea that thing about dells ect dont think thats the prob as he bout his own mobo it seems

Wow - the change in the stats are major. I kind of knew it was all bots but wow, to see the effect. Why the social media sites cant do something like this I have no idea.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Probably inflates their numbers so they look better to advertisers.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots

oh wow, i bet i can post x links now and do the webp pics now giggity

We are now on Ubuntu 24.04. Had some issues with the style after the OS/PHP upgrade but now resolved.

Weekend went by too fast. Next weekend I am going to try to do a nature thing - buddy of mine lives by the Colorado river and has some kayaks and invited me to do some kayaking from a place he knows to get on the river.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    That sounds like an adventure.
  • The Helper The Helper:
400 users all online all looking at latest content
  • The Helper The Helper:
I wonder how all these bots that sit on the lastest content page get passed anubis or maybe they did not but they are just registering on whos online
  • The Helper The Helper:
showing up on whos online not registration
  • Ghan Ghan:
The first gate is stopping all the bots that don't execute javascript.
  • Ghan Ghan:
That's the main thing with Anubis - no Javascript, no site. Typically you can still get the site to load without Javascript.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I remember the whole javascript thing, question - how many real people disable that?
  • The Helper The Helper:
Hell I guess I could go back on the stats to know that - we probably capture that and we know the before and after
  • Ghan Ghan:
Real users can't really disable Javascript anymore these days.
  • Ghan Ghan:
The internet is broken without it.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Bot readable, not human usable.
  • The Helper The Helper:
    got it
  • The Helper The Helper:
    Happy Thursday!
