The rise and fall of the Joe Camel cartoon is a lesson in disastrous advertising. As a marketing ploy, Joe was allegedly created to draw smokers away from Camel's competitors. The Joe Camel advertising campaigns utilized a masculine camel, or “smooth character,” to create an association between the brand’s cigarettes and the high life. However, when suspicions arose concerning the true audience impacted by these campaigns, attitudes about the smoking ads quickly shifted.

Steven Seagal is a bit of an enigma for a lot of martial artists because a lot of people see him as a person who is incapable of telling the truth, but at the same time, they respect him as someone who has achieved a high level of skill in the art of Aikido. The problem is that if Steven Seagal, the movie star, were just Steven Seagal who runs a martial arts gym in Suburbia, Midwest USA, he would be seen as a predator who would be in one of Rob's McDojoLife McDojo News videos because Steven Seagal is an absolute monster who has done nothing his entire career but place himself in positions to engage in predatory behavior.

Joe Pesci is an odd guy. Not a freakish kind of odd. It’s just that he goes completely against the grain of the public’s perception of him. One day, he’s a guitarist whose dream is to become an east coast lounge singer -- a couple of years later, he’s playing opposite Robert De Niro, and Scorsese fans are instantly all in on this five-foot-three ball of energy. Today, we’re going to explore why Joe Pesci has led one of the most interesting lives of any actor.

It was years in the making, but when it actually came, the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 occurred suddenly. In the immediate aftermath, the Russian people hoped for blue jeans and other Western goods - and the freedom that came with them. Their hopes were not fulfilled as Russia underwent a dramatic transformation from a planned economy to the market economy via a highly controversial “shock therapy” process. Amid the wild fluctuations in currency value came a constitutional crisis, a widely condemned invasion of Chechnya, and the rise of a new breed of politician.

The ability to shrink an entire computer to a chip the size of a finger has allowed for the mass adoption of both home and mobile computers. They have also had far reaching implications, helping to advance every industry, from manufacturing, finance, retail, to healthcare. The last 75 years has seen computer technology grow at a truly incredible rate. This video covers the complete journey: from early vacuum tube machines to the birth of home computers, from the multimedia madness of the 1990s, to the the multicore mindset of the 2000s and 2010s. And finally: what lays ahead.

What lies at the very furthest recesses of the Solar System? Far beyond the orbit of Neptune and the Kuiper Belt, deep into interstellar space, lies a vast, thick shell of icy space debris. We have never seen it directly, but we know it exists- because it is the source of the most distant comets that we see entering the Solar System. Why is it there?

SAND CAT is an expert in desert survival! Desert cat versus snakes, mice and scorpions The sand cat is one of the smallest representatives of the cat family. The length of his body does not exceed 52 centimeters, excluding the tail, which adds another 30 centimeters. The animal weight ranges from 1.5 to 3.5 kilograms. At the same time, males are slightly larger than females. The cat habitat begins in the Sahara, passes through the Arabian Peninsula and ends in the countries of central and southern Asia. Thus, animals prefer the most desert and arid regions of Africa and Asia.

    I have a GIF though

In the GIF, I've configured it so the lower the "Main Value" is, the better. I had to compress it pretty far down though.

Hmm, about the Headline News, I noticed threads are being moved into the subforum (Health News, Environmental News, etc.). When that happens, the TH Forum Home page loses the articles, and instead would show old articles posted 1 or 2 weeks ago.
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
What do we do with the Home page?
  • Ghan Ghan:
I added those forums to the filter for that widget.
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
    Oh nice. They're back. Thanks.
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
Now I think it makes more sense for me to put news in their own subforums, without worry.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Awesome Ghan thanks! I was purposely not moving the first 15 news articles in Headline news to the different subforums but I guess I don't have to do that now?
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
Question: Is there a way to remove thread redirects? It creates a copy of the moved thread and takes up space, and I am leaning towards wanting to remove them in the Headline News. But if they have an expiration date, I guess I'm fine with it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
If you move a thread please leave a permanent redirect. You can delete any redirects after 6 months. The redirects are left to help Search Engines find the moved content.
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
What if you move the permanent redirect, not the thread?
  • The Helper The Helper:
I think that works but I have not messed with it. You can delete redirects though if you have to that will not delete the original thread
  • The Helper The Helper:
if a redirect ends up in the same forum as the post it goes to though I think the redirect drops or fails or something but they are not bugged out and when you are working on an indirect the original post is safe.
