My computer keeps randomly rebooting from time to time... the last 5 minutes before I typed this, it rebooted 2 times.

I keep getting this error message when I start it up after the computer rebooted.

BCCode : 1000008e BCP1 : C0000005 BCP2 : F2064790 BCP3 : F1F209F8
BCP4 : 00000000 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 0_0 Product : 768_1

How do I stop this??

Overheating? Then why does it reboot only 2 minutes after the computer has been on?

Oh and, the test passed for goldmemory.

I don't exactly know why your computer is behaving the way it is, I am simply suggesting a possible cause. It could also be caused by bad drivers.

I had then problem too, but if u own original win xp, then u can download patches from microsoft. overheating and ram r not the cause, drivers incompatibility is the prime suspect

Have you checked the power outlet, voltage, ... other appliances on the same circuit kicking on/off?

My system started rebooting last Friday (11/8/02) every 5 to 10 minutes, and only stoped for a few ms to display a message. Then Monday, it didn't reboot until I got through writing down the error codes of which "BCCode: 1000008e" is the 1st. Now, it doesn't reboot nor does the os get errors, but the modem will not connect to my isp. I have a Soyo bb system with an Athlon 1800 cpu which has been working very well for 1 - 2 months with XP Home.

Those errors are processor-mob errors--also a possible memory error.--It can be cause by overheating or poor power supply. In some cases bad drivers.- If your processor is using a thermal pad between the heatsink and cpu, get rid of it and use thermal paste or gel. If you are using 300 watt or below power supply, look at that. If its none of the above, check and see if you have mismatched ram (different cas timings). Also the latest 40.xx drivers for nvidia have been known to give issues to some systems, try an older version driver.(30.xx)

Erm well... its been fixed already, it was a faulty software called PC-Cillin... I was asking for a trojan scanner that was FREE and Master told me about it, installed it, and the next week, I started having these reboots, for some reason I couldn't uninstall it through the control panel so I had to manually uninstall it by deleting all the registry files... took a good 30 minutes though.

Otherwise... can someone recommend me a software that doesn't cause my computer to fail like that?

==================================
Mr. Simpson, thanks for your response.

My system may have the overheating problem. I assumed that the thermal pad that came with the AMD CPU/heat sink/fan package from AMD would be adequate.

Tonight, I rimoved the heat sink and found a melted themal pad. Maybe it was supposed to melt into a good thermal bond??? I scrapped off what was left of it and applied the thermal grease that was supplied with the SOYO bb system.

My system's BIOS setup has a screen called "PC Health Status" that displays

CPU Temp
System Temp
Fan Speed
and some mother board voltages that it monitors.
The "FOC(Fan-off Control)" is Enabled.

Does XP capture this and provide this info to its users?

You say the p/s should > 300W. Why would that cause this problem? Mine is 300W.

There is a single stick of DDR RAM ruling out a RAM mismatch. It's reported by System Properties window to be 248 MB.

The mother board display adapter is Trident Blade 3D/ProMedia, ruling out the NVIDIA problem.

The system has not had the "random reboot problem" for 3 - 4 days, but when it did, it rebooted every 5 or 10 minutes and later when the error happened, it didn't reboot, but allowed me to see the error message first. There is more information in the sysEvtLogInfo.htm file which may be about this problem.

You also mentioned bad drivers. I haven't thoroughly considered that yet.

Again, Mr. Simpson, thanks for your response. I hope you will help me again.

Lysana: it looks like you should replace the memory (RAM) in your computer. It may also be a voltage problem. How familiar are you with these things?

There are a lot of people replying to this thread saying random things and I'm getting confused =)

I have a similair problem as the Thread starter. My computer randomly reboots, yes.
However it "only" resets randomly when I am playing Diablo 2. Warcraft is fine, any other game I ever played works fine (can not install Settlers 3 however for some strange reason, not that it bothers me greatly though).
I install the game, I play the game. Between 1 and 10 minutes the computer will reboot.
I check my event log first thing after it reboots, however not even a warning, no error, no critical error in the last hours.
The power is absolutely fine, I guarantee you this.
My computer is a Pentium IV, 1400MHz. The mainboard and CPU are just a few days old as I just had them rpelaced (lightning fried them). On this computer I never got it to work properly (with same CD works perfect on other computer). I replaced my GeForce 3 as I heard Nvidia may cause these problems. I now run a new Radeon 9000 on it. My sound card is a Terratec, rather new. I have absolutely no DMA and IRQ conflicts on the computer either. Heck even the CD-Rom I use it with is new now. At one time I got Diasblo to work fine (did not test it excessively however) on a new harddrive. I never managed to install my XP on both harddrives and then switch at start so always had to manually switch one of them to Master and boot from there. Now I installed it on the main harddrive again. I defragged, scanned disc, checked for registry entried with Diablo 2 and only then started install. After one minzte of game play it all resetted. So I figured to take the other HDD again, however I needed to reforamt. So format with NTFS, reinstall. Just XP, my drivers and Diablo 2. And it does the same thing,
I go to all forums and do not find anything about Diablo causing this so I start to blame my hardware. The software can not be it, I got all latest drivers and installed it with same software on another comp where it ran smoothly.
Now why could I get it to work once on this HDD and why is it doing this now? I read here about that Memory test and am a bit shocked.
I ony tested 128MB as the remaining 540MB where fried by lightning as well and I am still wiating for their replacement.
So could this be caused by the Memory, seriously?

Well the Goldmemory test failed... it detected problems so I'd at least check out that possibility =)

Actually I was just playing with having some kind of mention of the food forum and recipes on the main page to test and see if it would engage some of those people to post something. It is just weird to get so much traffic and no engagement
  • The Helper The Helper:
So what it really is me trying to implement some kind of better site navigation not change the whole theme of the site

How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
