I just went through alot of forums looking for an answer and although I found many, there's one thing that's still puzzling me. I can make items that give the hero a hat, weapon, armor, pretty much anything I want atm. The one thing that's confusing me though is the attack animation of ranged weapons.
Switching weapons isn't a hard thing to do as you can change the units range to match the weapon length, but when you have to create a projectile things get complicated. I could change the units attack to an arrow animation (you won't see it at melee range), but what if they pick up a throwing spear? How can I switch the attack animation without having to recreate the entire character (it'd be way to difficult with custom abilities, stats, and items).
I thought of one way to do it, just add a special affect to the attack, but you can only add special effects to lightning, units, or points. Lightning and units are out of the question, but I thought points would work. So how do I make the effect actually move from the attacking unit TOWARD the attacked unit?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
