re boot to windows in btlfld

i am running an :-
amd 2000xp on a gigabyte ga7dxe board
1.5g ddr333
geforce4 ti 128 gfx card
maxtor hdd
on winxp with sp
all latest drivers
ok and this is what happens
game statrts movies play all is fine
select game multi or singl start play
game can play anywhere between 0.20secs and 10 mins then it will just boot back to xp screen and sometimes it will start the whole re boot from bios
can someone help me please as oi am desperate to get my machine running as i think me mate is gonna start charging me rent

I posted this in another thread - it may help, I was the guy who posted just above 'same problem'...

OK - wasn't SP2 Hotfixes.
So I tried to adjust my vdimm voltage down from 2.77 to 2.63 (timings pretty tight still and running stock speed - 166) and turned down my overclocked AMD xp2400 CPU from 13x166 to 12x166 (so reads as xp2400 but with 333 fsb) also dropped vcore from 1.650 back to 1.625, no more errors, games played for about an hour - no worries, has also fixed an crashing to reboot error I had with GTR2002, and the system is booting quicker.

You may also want to try AGP spread spectrum at .50% (if your board supports it), you can always turn it off again (it's in BIOS).

so u actually underclocked your cpu ?

The way BF is coded it seems to have issues with OC'ed cpu's this is not uncommon due to the coding of certain games .

Hi all,

I may have figured out everyone's problems (hopefully).
NOTE: I'm only using the Demo.
Here's what i did.

1) installed the new NVIDIA driver (not from your video card manufacturer)
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

I also did this (but i suspect had no effect)
1) installed VIA 4-in-1 driver (chipset update for motherboard)
2) installed DirectX 9.0a
3) installed Demo patch.

Not only did the game run....but i was also able to crank up the video details far above what they were before.


I'm running in Win2000.
AMD 1Gig
AOPEN PA256 Geforce2 MX

I had the same problem. I even updated EVERYTHING to the newest drivers, etc for WinXP (SP1, all Windows Updates, newest Detonator drivers, etc). Actually, it seemed to be a problem with Operation Flashpoint, too, and perhaps other games as well. I could load a map in Battlefield just fine, but after about 5-10 seconds it would crash either to the desktop or completely reboot. Operation Flashpoint locks up the machine completely.

I found that if I reverted my Detonator drivers to version 27.50 the problem goes away. All newer drivers result in the same issue.

Unfortunately, v 27.50 is over a year old, and nVidia no longer has it linked on their website.

However, this non-English site seems to have the v27.50 drivers in question:

I can't verify the integrity of the above, however; download and use at your own risk (you should certainly scan it with an updated virus scanner before installing the above).

If the above link for version 27.50 drivers doesn't work for you, try searching Google.com or whatever for nVideo 27.50 to find ones that do work.
