Hi, guys,

Well, the N501 is still one of my two main DVD players, however it doesn't work perfectly with all the DVDs we watch these days, and my kids rarely play the games any more since we have so many game systems in this house. ;)

I had fun improving the Doom source code a year or two back, but honestly I'm so backed up on projects for the Atari Lynx and Jaguar that I don't see myself every working on NUON code again.

So, I'm ready to sell my N501 collection. I have 2 stealth controllers plus 1 Logitech controller, and all the USA-released games including Next Tetris and Iron Soldier 3 (no box, but also no "demo only" sticker either as I acquired a copy from a VM Labs employee way back when). I realize most people here probably already have a NUON setup, but I'd take offers here before I hit eBay. Let me know if interested, thanks!

A few people expressed interest in some or all of the collection, but I haven't received any firm offers yet. I will make a full list of what I have over the next week or two, but I'll probably end up going the eBay route...

Interested

Hi,

I live in the UK and currently don't have a Nuon but looking to get one. I could be very interested in either your entire collection or at least all of the games. The main thing will be I have a massive console collection but all my consoles are either brand new sealed or mint with no scratches marks.

Can you let me know what all your collection is like.

Thanks
Ross

I'm not sure what you're asking, but as it turns out, I have not sold my collection yet. I'm still interested in selling it, but inertia has gotten the best of me all summer. :)

Nuon Development

Hi, guys,

PM sent on Tetris. Probably about fourth in line. :p

Hey you developed on the Nuon? Did/do you have a Nuon development kit?

I just used the publicly available download kit, and burned CD-Rs to test on the N501. It was probably one of the easier dev kits I've worked on, but as I said last year, I've got my hands full trying to keep Jaguar and Lynx projects moving forward.

Easier kits to work on eh? Good to hear. I've heard people talk about programming for the Dreamcast verses the Jaguar is easier in the sense that the Dreamcast was more like the PC type setup, so easier to port things over to it. What would you say the Nuon is close to? In what areas was it different?

Well Clu, the architecture was not similar to anything else at the time. However, the public SDK had a C compiler (shitty as it was). SO it was dead simple to get stuff up & running, but next to impossible to get any performance out of the box unless you went to assembly. That was insane as the machine had 4 cores running in parallel. I can share a decent amount of commented C source code if you are interested.

OK, this time I'm really ready to sell! We finally bought a new DVD player, so the NUON is disconnected and ready to find a good home. Here is what I have:

Samsung N501 (has latest firmware installed)
Original remote
Owner's manual
1 Logitech analog controller
2 HPI "Stealth" analog controllers
Ballistic
Doom (on CDR)
Freefall
Iron Soldier 3 (in jewel case, no outer box, and no "demo only" sticker)
Merlin Racing
The Next Tetris (in jewel case)
Space Invaders XL
Tempest 3000 (sealed)

Everything is in great shape, and guaranteed to arrive in functional condition. There are some cosmetic smudges on the top of the N501, and there is a small crack in the thumbstick on the remote (but the remote still works perfectly).

I am asking $500 including shipping and insurance. Offer valid for USA only. Let me know if you're interested!

  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.

It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
