Retrogamer Gen X takes an in depth look at the Atari XEGS. This repackaged Atari 8 bit computer was marketed as a direct competitor to the Nintendo NES system. This video has a real good explanation of all the chips underneath the hood of this machine.

Explores the Basic Programming cartridge and keyboard controller for the Atari 2600. Basic Programming for the 2600 was programmed by Warren Robinet - the same guy who did Adventure. It really is a marvel of programming to get this on the 2600.

This is a super interesting video detailing some of the ingenius tricks and work arounds that early Atari 2600 and other early computers used to get more out of the very limited ram other resources available in early systems. I especially like the way they exploited the pseudo randomness of the random number generators. Freaking Genius!

It's the TG16, the other '16-bit' console, or maybe it's 8-bit. Whatever it had a whole load of amazing games and I'm going to take a look at a few that pushed it to the limits.

In this video we are going to take a look at why the Commodore Amiga was just so awesome. This is from a hardware perspective and I've included lots of quotes from the designer himself Jay Miner.

What was Sega's Tower of Power? Today I'm adding the ultimate Mega Drive to The Cave. Comprising of a stack of upgrades which flopped commercially, is the tower greater than the sum of its parts? Let's find out.

The Acorn Electron has turned 40 years old, but its often judged in away that suggests it failed or was the sole cause of Acorn's financial issues in the 80s. Well I'm not sure either of those things are true. So its time to look at the Electron.

If we have any female readers this is for you guys :) The Avon Beauty Vision is a custom computer built by Avon for its representatives to use in the field. Its main feature is a scanner that is supposed to match your skin type to the makeup. Best shades and stuff. Anyway, interesting history on this unique device.

What we have here is a SWTPC 6800 Computer System from 1975. Looking at the machine, you might not guess that this machine is almost as old as the Altair 8800, only coming out about 10 months later! (And about the same age as me!) There are some fundamental differences with the approach this machine takes versus the Altair and some other neat features. Watch to see what's going on inside this machine.
