So. ive been hearing (and have been already hearing) that vista really hogs up the resources of a computer. Is there anyway to downgrade without the CD?
If you want Linux.. try downloading Ubuntu or Kubuntu (I don't recommend Xubuntu).. You won't need the CD to install it.. The installer comes with Wubi which installs Ubuntu in a windows environment.. After that, you can dual boot between Ubuntu (or Kubuntu) and Vista.. You can also uninstall this OS if you don't like it..
First you need to download the ISO image.. then mount it. I recommend using Daemon Tools or Ultra Iso.. After that, just double click the mounted disc in My Computer.. It should run.. If not, explore the disc and run Wubi.exe or Setup.exe...
Depends what you mean by hogs up. It doesn't leave a bunch of memory "free" (wasted)... it uses it for stuff. But if you have an older computer, i.e. one that is older than Vista unless it was top-of-the-line at Vista's release then stick with XP.
Windows 7 is a bit better but it's still not made for old hardware
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
