DATA FROM RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT INDICATE THAT RITA HAS INTENSIFIED
A LITTLE MORE AND WINDS HAVE REACHED 150 MPH WINDS WITH A MINIMUM
PRESSURE OF 920 MB. THIS MAKES RITA A STRONG CATEGORY FOUR
HURRICANE.

I just went to the WalMart Neighborhood Market to get a little water, some brews, and some toilet paper you know for the Hurricane and I have to say there is an edge in the air here in houston - a rush to people's step - a sorta borderline panic and it is only Wednesday. I know some people that are evacuating but alot are staying. The only thing I can say is regardless of whether we get our butts kicked by the hurricane people are a little jumpy here and there are going to be water and gas shortages - and judging how people are out there I don't exactly know how well they are going to take it....

Another hurricane.... What the hell. I think the U.S Offended mother nature or somthing.

Guns, man of course I have guns. This is Houston, TX man - everyone has a gun here :) That's why there is not going to be any looting.

I have lots of canned goods and a can opener. It is just me so I don't need a ton of stuff but I think I am set for now. If not there is always tomorrow. I am getting alot of pressure from my ex wife to evacuate since it turned Category 5 but as of now I am still riding it out...

I hope what happenned in New Oreleans won't happen again. That would be terrible.
 
What happened in New Orleans is that it is below sea level and the levees holding the big ass lake next to it back failed and flooded everything.

Houston is above sea level 80 miles from the coast. The only real danger here is tornados and the wind ripping roofs off of houses. We would have to get like 8 feet of rain before houses would go under. I don't live close to any streams - it could flood up into the house if it got real bad though so I have to remember to put my computer up high somewhere, probably in the trunk of my car in the garage.

Where is houston exactly I though it was in like the middle. And isn't conan near houston too. WHAT WOULD HE DO IF THE POWER WENT OUT!!! HE WILL KILL HIMSELF! OMFG NO WoW!!!!!! You gotta go save him. :) And what if anything "bad" happens to you. What will happen to forum???

quick TH, grab the server and move it to your place and get an emergency power supply on it so that the looters can't get it and it doesn't go down during the hurricane!
 
Not to worry - the server we are hosted on is in Michigan. We are paid up until January. If I were to die there might be a problem when the domain runs out because I don't have a will but the storm will not effect access to the site.

Maybe I should write a quick will if I die give the domain to SD_Ryoko so TheHelper.net will carry on LOL :nuts:

The hurricane's supposed to be as big as Texas, and is going to still be a category 1 when it hits Dallas. (Yeah...They'll feel it in Dallas to)

Worse that could happen is our roof blows off or something. The electric companies have workers out there duiring the storm, so electricity shouldn't be out for too long. (Even if it does, I have a fully charged PSP/gameboy ;))

The hurricane's now a category 5. :( People are actually being put in old WWII bunkers for safety.

Dallas is preety far from the water but huston seems very close.

However the hurricane is suspected to go right through both houston and dallas.

FYI - Huricanes lose ALOT of pwoer once they hit landfall. The very peak of that will be mild clouds and rain - Nothing more.

A category 1 hurricane is supposed to be felt in Dallas. My area of Houston is supposed to be about category 4. (75 MPH winds :()

They said Rita is the 5th largest hurricane on record. :(
 
Did you know there was a hurricane on long island, ny (where i live) on d day and killed over 2000 people and wasn't in a single newspaper.
