See Rules of Roleplay in the Second Post!

notice.png

The Roleplaying Forum, by my request, has been removed from TheHelper Forums. Mainly because I was tired of trying to keep it active, while many members had very little interest or activity to keep playing. I felt it was a fun and creative thing to do that would help people become more imaginative or better writers.

So one might say that I just removed my project that my hard work has gone into it for well over a year now and yet to what? All my work has disappeared, well that's the thing, I don't plan to completely obliterate Roleplaying from the face of the forum. I plan to keep it around but more as a smaller thing, while I try to make the Creativity Section of the Site Larger, because when we first created the Roleplaying Forum we forgot to make a very important step. To see how many people were truly interested in the games, not just the ideas and apparently that wasn't so.

Fast Forward to today, Roleplaying Threads, will be allowed in the Writer's Corner, however all discussion of those RPs must be within that thread, or in this thread. I hope over time some more people will be interested in the topic of Roleplaying, and then one day we maybe could reopen the RP forum, but until that day, Roleplaying will be held in this forum. For any persons who enjoyed a past RP from the old forum, I can revive/restart it so that new players can play with the idea and create their own universe.

The Rules for Roleplaying

These rules here, most of the more like common sense guidelines, were created in the ideal of keeping the roleplaying game fun for anyone and everyone who joins it. They are fairly simple, so follow them and heed their advice so that you don't ruin the game for other players, and we don't have to get the Mod Hammer out.

Global Rules
  1. No God-Modding
God-Modding is when a player takes control of an action or event that should be under the Dungdon Master's or another player's control. An example of this would be a player making a statement that his character did damage or his attack hit the target and killed the character, without giving the other player a chance to react or give his/her side of action. God-Modding is completely unfair, and to the sites I have been to that have a Rolepalying Forum this is the biggest No-No it can easily kill a Roleplay for the other players.

  2. No Resurrecting Yourself
This goes with God-Modding but it is a far more extreme case, that normal God-Modding standards, you are unable to bring back a character from the dead unless stated otherwise by the DM or Roleplay Creator. This isn't allowed mainly because it takes away from the realism of the game and is very improper for players who are playing by the rules. If you're dead, start a new character or play another game.

  3. No Flaming/Spamming/Bumping
Spamming and Bumping are both annoying and pointless in RPs. If no one's playing, try PMing someone else from the game or posting in the Warehouse so that someone knows know it's their turn and you're waiting for them. If they don't reply or decided they don't want to play, PM a Role playing mod and we will edit the game in order to allow it to continue.

  4. No Thread Hi-Jacking
We encourage people to start their own games. Do not turn someone else's game into your own idea. Start your own. This is not the same as contributing the plot! (This is as if we were playing a game of fighting against dragons and you decide to do a Sci-Fi sub-plot)

  5. Read Before You Join/Post
If you don't know what's going on in the game, how can you be expected to play it properly? If someone's posted since the last time you did, you need to know what they did/said for you to react appropriately. This rule should be common sense, really.

  6. No Cyber-Sex Games
Just like we don't allow pornography on the site, we do not allow cyber-sex games. If you don't know what these are, it's an RP where the characters have sex. It's not allowed, so don't do it.

  7. Avoid One Liners
Try to make your posts a little bit longer then just one or two sentences long.

  8. All Characters MUST BE APPROVED BY THE OWNER OF THAT ROLEPLAY
All Characters must be posted in the OOC Discussion of that RP (In the social Group, if it has one) or Private Messaged to the Owner. So that the Roleplay Creator can approve or unapprove of new characters.

[*]All new Roleplays MUST BE APPROVED (Outdated)
All new roleplays must be approved by ether Miz, Pineapple or Seth before being allowed in the Writer's Corner Forum. However, in the Roleplaying Guild social group, you are free to post as many RPs as you want without approval.

If Someone is breaking the rules
, disrupting play or being annoying. Report them using the shiny report button
report.gif
.
Because mods can't be moderating every game all the time it is important that you do this, so the Roleplaying forum can remain a fun and enjoyable place to play.

Please follow the Roleplaying Rules or there will be a whole slew of bad Things that you do not want to happen to you.

The old Advance RP, Plunder, will be coming back after Pineapple and I make some changes along the way. Such as new rules, new parts of the game and a new map, along with city by city profiles with information, and what you can get there.
So nothing like a bunch of drunk privateers and wenches. Pirates FTW!

To keep the Writer's Corner Forum from overflowing with massive Roleplaying Posts/OOC Spam, OOC posts will be held for certain Roleplays and discussions about bring things back and new ideas will be held in the Roleplaying Guild Social Group.
If you want to subscribe to it; click Here.

While it is a moderated group, anyone is free to join with good behavior.
This thread will be more used to post up announcements on topics and give information on what it is going on.

The Roleplaying Chatroom (#roleplay) in the Thehelper Chat, is still online BTW, so feel free to talk to many of us there or nag us to come.

Plunder will be up Tomorrow, it almost drove Pineapple and I insane with the amount of details and customization we put into the Roleplay. With over 27 locations each with their own legends, mysteries, sub-plots, and political problems. (Along with resources) And the ability of players to create new legends, islands, ships and problems. (Pretty much everything can be edited and customized; its like one big novel written by all of us)

It could be considered the most customized, advanced and massive Roleplay we have ever done on this site. So be wary!

(just how big was the RP forum before it closed)

And can roleplay be any story you make up that is approved by you two, even if it is ran by a new system that you made up?

At least 30+ (Most were written by me or a few other game makers. All of them happened over time, and most failed, which is why I closed the forum and try to restart the program.)

To your second question:
If its approved by one of us than yes, it can be allowed.
However in the Social Group there is a new Character Limit (so bigger posts), and you can post any RP that you want to try out there without approval all you want.
You can post about the social group RPs in this thread, if your looking for new people to join as well.

We ask for your approval so we have the best RPs in the Writer's Corners and not just random three posts RPs cluttering the forum. (Which is why we have the social group.)
Compromises, we have them ;)

if the leader of an RP is [del]decapitated[/del] incapacitated and he had given permission for another person to take over, could that other person take over or would a moderator have to approve of this? And how long does an RP have to go without activity before it is declared "dead" and a RP thread would have to be made for it to continue

Oh. and. Cheers for L snooping :D
What is a beginner RP compared to a normal RP

If you give someone permission to tak over they can.

RP's wont die anymore.

You can continue them any time - don't repost them.

Examples...

Plunder is an Advanced RP.

Extinction is a beginner RP. (Unless your me >.>)

Beginner RP's tend to have less rules, and have simpler characters and short posts.

Normal
RP's are more restricted

Advanced
RP's are very restrictive and choosy.

Normal and Beginner should typically be in the Groups

In Continuation to what Pineapple Said (Damn he beat me to the punch)

What is a beginner RP compared to a normal RP

A leader of an RP is unimportant unless the Roleplay is of DM (Dungeon Master) RP or DnD (Dungeon and Dragons), in which the Leader is the DM, meaning for the RP to continue it requires that said person to be there. Than a moderator (probably me, because Pineapple is a busy man) will temporarily take his/her place, until a (adequate) replacement can be found. However we hope that if the leader puts himself in the DM position, that he won't just get up and leave so easily, after all once you become a DM much like a player of an RP; you're making some-sort of commitment here.

As for "Dead Roleplays" that is situational, but if it hasn't been posted in a good four to five months if not more, I would consider it dead, of course if its recently deceased, no new thread will be needed. You can just revive it, and hopefully someone continue to play with you.
The only time you would need to post a new thread or a remake of that RP (which would still require approval) is if it was long dead, like a year or even more.

As for your last question; Beginner VS Normal/Advance
A normal or advance RP is more what Plunder is, with unlimited possibilities and more rules and guidelines. Player have to be fairly good at RPing, and know all of the rules and how to behave to play.

Beginner RPs have less Rules and are more flexible when it comes to people breaking minor ones, a more fixed environment, and probably a little less of freedoms. While you should not make your idea just beginner because you feel there needs to be one.

In summary, the Major of differences is the Beginner RPs are RPs where New RPers can easily join and learn how to roleplay, while Normal to Advance are harder to get into and require players to already know how to play, make lengthier posts, and have some sort of good writing style (More advance on that last one)

However, we do not like to disquisition from one or the other, (We do not discriminate between Roleplays) There will be of course, easier Games for new Roleplayers to join and some that will be harder and aimed for more experience players...

Afterall it doesn't really matter if one Roleplay is advance and the other one is beginner as long as they have a good plot, and are fun.

Lol. and people say RPs are for 8 year olds. Look at a RP like Plunder xD....
----
Are there any examples of a normal RP?

But if its an advanced RP then there wont be a lot of people, and that is no fune.

And you cannot take over for Pine as DM in the Extinction RP can you? You yourself are a player

If Pineapple was leaving temporarily,he may entrust me to have DM, and my character would be off the map for as long as I am DM. However, that is extremely unlikely because Pineapple would probably not have a session or if he was leaving permanently, the game would be closed of course.

Most likely with Extinction, it would go on a lull, not because I don't trust Miz,

but because Only I know whats gonna happen with all the NPC's and everything else.

but thats just you right? a different person could run a DnD in such a way so as to make it possible that another person could take over

Since the Release of Starcraft II (even way before that) i've been working on an RP set exactly in that universe but would be more suited to advanced players.

The Setting:A massive Quadrant composed of several Sectors which are composed of several planetary systems. Most of these sectors have been occupied by the six Major powers (2 for each race) while some planets within this sector have been occupied by smaller factions (player created). Each player can choose amongst three character types one of them being able to create three non canon units to be used alongside the units found in SCII

The other idea which is more suited to beginner players would be a squad based Dungeon RP set in the distant Starcraft II universe
