SC wont quit -> BSOD in Win2k

When I exit SC, the program will not quit, even with a "End Process" or "kill" command. When I use "Kill -f" to force the kill, it locks up my cmd prompt!

Then I would get a BSOD...so I changed the options to not restart automatically. I was getting a PROCESS_HAS_LOCKED_PAGES error. It says it "may be" afd.sys. I've tried replacing this file with an older (pre-sp2) version, and it only seemed to cause more problems.

It seems to have something to do with WinSocks or another network-related resource.

Any ideas?

Old incompatibility with ZoneAlarm.
Shut it down before playing and it should work (or maybe you'll need to uninstall it completely, can't remember)

And if you're not using ZoneAlarm, you'll have to guess with what other program SC is having problems (probably another firewall/packet filter/...)

(oh, and don't forget to thank Blizzard for making new patches without any fixes when bugs like this one exist since the beginning...)

Thanks, I had a feeling that might have been it, and I already got rid of it.

It's a great program for what it does, but it's not enough for me.

It has solved the problem for me. You could also use another firewall. I always thought outpost was a game untill...

xero1101657 you are correct, it should read Zonealarm pro 3. The free version is still in its 2.6 incarnation.
