Scaling models

There was this custom Hero I made, that looked a bit small in size...

Now, I then changed the "Art - scaling value" to make him larger,
which worked fine.

Of course, he couldn't attack anything anymore after...

Back to the object editor, I changed all of the following too:
Art animation - Cast backswing
Art animation - Cast point
Art - Selection scale
Combat - Attack 1 - Animation backswing point
Combat - Attack 1 - Animation damage point

All of them, of course, to the same proportion.

Seems to work just fine.
The model is bigger and he's able to beat things up.

Now, my question, did I forget something?

hmmm i dont know why you have to change all that shit
i mess with the scale of units all the time and it never messes with their attacks

The particular unit in question is a close-range fighter with a sword.

After changing its scaling value, well...

Attacking some Creeps at night time didn't even wake them up :)
He was doing his attack animation just fine,
only, there was no damage done.

Well :)

I'm guessing that "Animation damage point" is the only required change,
but, then, doing them all seems safer.

I don't understand how modifying Scaling Values of a unit could prevent it from doing damage or attacking. The cause must lie elsewhere.

Surprising, isn't it? :)

My current best guess is:
The model is set to do damage at a range of <number><unit>.

Now, with changing the size, the model touches the target sooner, from a greater distance.
However, the do-damage distance has not been reached yet.
So, he's hacking away, thinking he's close enough and nothing happens.

Like I said "my current best guess".

But, and that's a good point, adjusting all other values somehow solved the problem.
And, after all, that's all the problem-solving changes I made.
(I usually don't continue adding stuff while there are still known issues)
There must be some relation.

If collision size is used too for damage done to you...
Hmm..., I see this really huge Big Bad Boss... and,
to beat him, you have to, literally, step on its toes... :)
Could be fun.

Can you walk through walls, if your collision size is 0?
The perfect ghost, bullets and swords simply passing through without touching you...

I seem to remember too (no WE on this comp) a trigger action "unit - scale unit",
or something close to that, but that only goes up to 120%.

Strange though, since you can easily rescale a "1.0" model to, for example, "5.0"...
Of course, at some point, s?he|it will start to look rather edgy :)

But, you only need 5 steps to cross the map... ;)

No, you have to turn the unit's collision size off, 0 collision size doesnt let you pass through things :)

I did do a rare thing for me and hire a girl last month without warning. Everyone was made at me because I started her at like 21, but she worked with me before and I was like don't care. She made 19 at her old job and I wanted her to come work with me, she is the best

I'm going to get her a raise at the end of the summer. She wants to go to school again, but I want her to still work with me so.... she kind of can just tell me what the price is. I can go to 25 if she keeps up. I need to get her onto line more, that's what she wants, but I need her where she is and it's not fair that she doesn't get the little bit of raise that comes with it. She can do it no problem, I've worked with her there.

It's just hard to move and train people unnecessarily right now. And also the line fucking sucks, it's not any more fun. This is turn and burn so I have the bankroll, and everyone suffers for it

I think it's gonna be a good fall and winter though. We're going to have a good staff, they will get along, they will be able to manage the workload and the complications, they know how to really cook this year, like every person on line knows their steak temps. Some of them use thermometers a lot and they don't always use them right, but they do know how to do it. Failure, especially in this field, is the only way to get better. They'll get it
  • Varine Varine:
They won't get feel down while they do the thermometer, but we didn't have an instant read probe when I was learning. Like they did but god knows how off it is, you HAD to do it by feel. Even if the chef was fine with me bringing my own, it takes too long. Poke and know

I recently had an experience with a waiter that really brought down @Varine's point about them being in sales. The first waiter just asked "anything else? deserts?" and when the table shook their head said "ok" and left. Then the other waiter came in and started going off describing the deserts and you could see the heads turning, and they finally got a bunch of deserts

makes sense if you consider that the tip is basically a commission on sales

That's an arbitrary number. It could be whatever you want, really. Though one wonders what the use case is for uploading giant files to a forum these days.

I should have asked elsewhere but i wanted vsnes to see he is trying to upload a pic no big deal it can stay where it is.
