Anyone got computer specs for Starcraft II or have they not been released yet?

By the way the C-based scripting language for the editor looks promising IMO. Looks to be coming along a lot better than WCIII's excuse for a programming language.

No, they plan on releasing it more towards the release.

Quoted from the FAQ:
Starcraft2FAQ said:
What are the system requirements for StarCraft II?

We'll have more details on specific system requirements closer to the release date.

Will the game run natively on Windows Vista?

StarCraft II will be fully compatible with Windows Vista, as well as XP. We'll have more details on system requirements closer to release.

Will StarCraft II be available on Mac simultaneously with PC?

As with all of Blizzard's recent releases, StarCraft II will ship on both PC and Mac simultaneously.

Will StarCraft II take advantage of DirectX 10? What other graphical goodies are included?

The game will be compatible with DirectX 10, and we're still considering whether there will be exclusive DirectX 10 graphic effects, but the graphics engine will also be very scalable to ensure that a wide range of different systems will be capable of running StarCraft II. The new engine is also capable of rendering very large units, as well as large numbers of units on screen together. Havok physics have been integrated into the engine for added realism as well.

I have heard somewhere that it would require 128 mb of video RAM on lowest settings though (the models would have higher poly count that the wow models)

128? lol, then no one should have a problem playing this game unless they have a 10 year old outdated computer. (Going by RAM, not everything else)

Anyone got computer specs for Starcraft II or have they not been released yet?

Apparently they have been leaked:

Code:
Minimal requirements
- GFX GeForce 7/8 Series or Radeon 1000/2000 with 256 MB RAM
- CPU Pentium 4
- RAM 1 GB
- Internet ADSL 1 Mbit

Recommended requirements
- GFX GeForce 8000 or Radeon 2000 series with 512 MB RAM
- CPU Core 2 Duo or Athlon X2.
- RAM 2 GB
- Internet ADSL 3 Mbit

Optimal requirements
- GFX Geforce 9000er or Radeon 3000er Series
- CPU Core 2 Duo 3 GHz or Athlon X2
- RAM 2GB with DualChannel mode

Blizzard have denied this completely, but could these Internet requirements have any truth to them? 1Mbit sounds completely absurd even considering that SC2 will have VoiP.

By the way the C-based scripting language for the editor looks promising IMO. Looks to be coming along a lot better than WCIII's excuse for a programming language.

That was my original thought, but now I'm not so sure.

So, should I bother learning JASS in anticipation for sc2? Or just wait and learn the new thing they're going to have?

If you plan to continue mapping in wc3, then do so.
SCIIs coding language will probably not be like Jass at all.

Those specs don't sound like "A wide range of computers". Minimal is usually very minimal, as in the game will run, but it won't run well. Theres no way the minimum is going to be 1gb ram and a 7/8 series graphics card

Required an 8 Series as a minimum is blaspheme!
Considering that its compared with the 1k and 2k series from ATI, you know its fake.

The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
