World Seoul to Build Combat Robot

Defense and communications technicians will team up to develop a mobile combat robot to fight alongside human soldiers on the battlefield, the government said Wednesday.
Officials heading the project said they have requested 33.4 billion won ($32.4 million) in funding between 2006 and 2011 to develop the horse-like robot for deployment.

According to design blueprints released during a meeting of science-related ministers, the robot will have six or eight extendable legs with wheels allowing it to move like an insect over uneven terrain.

The robot will be armed with various weapons and will operate both by remote control and its own artificial intelligence system.

I don't see how they are going to make an AI on a robot, that fights.
What are they going to do make every soldier wear a chip to make sure they are friendly?

They won't beable to detect by the cloths they are wearing or pretty much anything else besides something like a chip for it to detect. What if a enemy gets hold of the chip etc, it won't target them.

It just stumps me on how they are going to make an AI for this thing.

There could be a signal they send or a chip or something the friendlies where that sends messages telling it's friendly. And, the soldiers would most likely train with it so if it malfunctions or whatever they could move or something.

well, input all the soldiers iris info into the bot and the robot can scan it (if they makes a really strong eye scanner) and detect if its from the good side..

and if a stupid soldier forgets to show up at the time when they scan it to input it, well Bye Bye

Lets see it try to accurately scan a person thats running or are the enemy and friendly people suppose to stand still while it sees if there good or bad..., what happens if the eye piece gets damaged. It won't work.

Ill be interested to see how they are going to make an AI.

what if you are in a city with civilians... do the robots kill everybody around, and what about planes and helicopters? if there is a war and planes are being made during the battles and they fly in and get shot down...
