Setting Up a Free Forum

This will teach you how to make your own free forum, with no ads in just a half hour! The forum software will be phpBB3. For an example of a phpBB3 forum visit http://rodead.com

phpBB3 is open source, meaning that you can edit the forum code.

Step 1:
Sign up for an ad free x10hosting account (note: it dosen't have to be x10hosting but I strongly recommend x10hosting, the details are the bottom.) (http://x10hosting.com).
Step 2:
Once it's confirmed and all that download phpBB3, you can go to the next step while it's downloading. (http://phpbb.com).
Step 3:
Watch this tutorial to install it. If you do not understand anything just please contact me.
Step 4:
Your done and you have your free forum set up. (Wow, wasn't that easy?)

Getting a .co.nr Domain For Your Forum:

You can get a forum domain like www.myforum.co.nr free of charge.

The catch is that you have to put this code on your website:

PHP:
<a href="http://www.freedomain.co.nr/" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.freedomain.co.nr/images/bars/anima.gif" width="88" height="31" border="0" alt="Free Domain Name - www.YOU.co.nr!"></a>

Just get a ipbfree board.

Can't edit source code ftw? No rep mods ftw?

You can add any feature iBPfree has in phpBB and more. Now if you got an Invision Power Board, that's a different story but it costs money, but if your gonna pay, get vBulletin.

>Why do you keep linking to that strange site..

WHAT STRANGE SITE?

I've never linked to that before but that was some random example I came up with as a domain.

General chit-chat
Help Users
  • No one is chatting at the moment.
  • Varine Varine:
How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air
  • The Helper The Helper:
New dessert added to recipes Southern Pecan Praline Cake https://www.thehelper.net/threads/recipe-southern-pecan-praline-cake.193555/
  • The Helper The Helper:
Another bot invasion 493 members online most of them bots that do not show up on stats
  • Varine Varine:
I'm looking at a solid 378 guests, but 3 members. Of which two are me and VSNES. The third is unlisted, which makes me think its a ghost.

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
