Setting up Abilities shop

I can set up a shop to sell items or heroes. But I can't figure out how to sell abilities like Bash, Devotion Aura, Flame Strike to customize hero abilities. I've seen it done in The Great Strategy map, but the dang thing won't open for me to examine. Any help out there, please?

You could create a custom item, set its icon to Bash's and a matching tooltip.
Then, when the shop sells that item, remove it and give the ability to the unit that bought it.

SellAbilities
    Events
        Unit - A unit Sells an item (from shop)
    Conditions
        (Item-type of (Sold Item)) Equal to <your item here>
    Actions
        Item - Remove (Sold Item)
        Unit - Add Bash to (Buying unit)

Should work.

Note, though, that "unit - add ability" doesn't give abilities which you can actually use Hero points on.
The ability will work, but it won't level.

Well, it's an idea...
